Weird wheel.... Rear diffuser could be more pronounced to offset the visual fatness. Overall it's too understated, and in that sense... DUD.

Neither... Just looks like a slightly modified 2011 5-Series (as in pretty boring).

STUD. M5's have always been understated, and of course its going to look like a 5 series thats the whole idea. Looks like a business car, drives like a sports car.

Meh.......

The rims really need to be 20's.

DUD. The previous M5 was ugly and gone unnoticed in a short time. The new one is based on a new body which looks good but I think its a bit softy for such model. People who know about cars will recognize it on the street, and they will know what this car is capable for, but for the average guy in the street, he won't care.
So, you buy this car to impress yourself in the first place, not others.

"So, you buy this car to impress yourself in the first place, not others."

I'm sorry...but maybe I misunderstand...so you SHOULD buy a car based on how impressive it is to others?

But aren't all M series understated? Isn't that the point of buying an M series, to not draw attention to yourself? There's always the GTR, 911 and Viper.

Agree looks quite conservative for a 550BHP+ Super Sedan. Front and Rear bumpers are same as M3.

looks fine to me. lets just hope the handling is stellar. hard to believe the 535 has lost it's steering feel

To fat compared to what? The specs have not been released, and the competition will be similar in weight.

STUD,this car will be such a sleeper, but with supercar performance.

very nice. same great proportions and strong character lines as other 5-series--but more aggressive looking. yet still understated (and that's a very good thing). particularly like the front air dam and tailpipes.

car is hot but if im paying 100k for a performance sedan (the performance sedan i should say) I want 20s for the rims and not black either. i would hate to drop 100k for a car then another 10k for new tires and rims.

I can't wait to try it out. Was looking at replacing my current W221 within the next year or so, and it's going to be tricky deciding between this, the new CLS 63 AMG, A7 or the next S. I think this grey/silver is a reasonably conservative colour on the M5, if you want to get noticed, go for blue, black, red or white.

Who ever bought an M5 to be noticed? Every M5 built have been unnoticeable, so why should this one be any different? People have never bought an M5 to be noticed!

you're joking right? i give the caddy credit for work to date, but its always been outclassed by the M5. yeah it had more HP than the outgoing M5 but um, yeah well you know!

and to say that the V version stands out is ridiculous!

I think it looks great! Sure its a little conservative but that is why you buy an M5 because you dont want to look flamboyant in a Corvette or something. STUD for sure!

DUD! Goes backwards in design (the standard 5 series is surprisingly a good looking design).

Need4speed : "I'm sorry...but maybe I misunderstand...so you SHOULD buy a car based on how impressive it is to others?"

No, what I meant that others who only look at it will not appreciate it like the one who drives it. The performance of this car is a key factor on buying decision not the looks. I hope I am clear enough.

nguyenvuminh, I totally agree with you. It seems that some BMW fans felt offended, and I read some comments defending the M5 design and character, and they got a good point, but still I don't like its looks. Should this offend BMW fans? I hope not.Cheers

Huge improvement over the last-gen model (Which I didn't like mostly due to the headlight design & SMG gearbox), definitely a STUD!
