Truck Sales Rising Amid Higher Gas Prices

Truck Sales Rising Amid Higher Gas Prices
Even with gas prices rising across America pickup sales appear to be immune for the time being. Since the first of the year gas prices have increased over 20% amid rising crude oil prices due to instability in the Middle East. Nevertheless, over the past three months pickup sales have been gradually increasing. Take a look below to see the first quarter sales trend for the sixth full size pickups available on the market today. Aside from the GMC Sierra all of the pickups have increased their sales successively every month in the quarter. Ford and Dodge have done particularly well increasing their sales by 49 and 79 percent respectively.

Do you see truck sales falling when gas goes over 4 dollars nationwide or do you think that they will remain strong until gas reaches 5 dollars, if it does?

I would hope that you two are truly joking. Otherwise what you have stated is really just exceptionally unsophisticated, and frankly, rather provincial, which makes it funny that you refer to others as rednecks.

The truth is that most, although not all, purchase trucks based on utility; or at least perceived utility.

The economy is improving and companies may be beginning to purchase vehicles again and upgrade older ones... and they are probably getting incentives to do so due to gas prices. .

Come on people - this is proof that most people who buy trucks buy them for a purpose (to haul things) and fuel mileage is secondary. If some one buys a truck for transportation and then complains about the mileage well, they are an idiot. Don't stereotype truck owners, I am a truck owner.
