Who Is The REAL King Of The Luxury SUV? Infiniti QX56 vs Lexus LX570 Knock Out!
I spent my impressionable childhood being toted around in the way back of my family's 1992 Toyota Land Cruiser and in many large sport-utilities owned by my friends' families, so I feel that I have a pretty good idea of how buyers actually use them.
Our Land Cruiser took us from our home in suburban New York City to the Outer Banks, to the Berkshires in the dead of winter, and of course to the Stop n Shop about ten thousand times. I've arrived at school plays, ceramics classes, Japanese-language classes, violin lessons, and Broadway shows in the third-row seats of Cadillac Escalades and Mitsubishi Monteros and Lexus LX470s and Chevy Suburbans.

Is it just me, or does that look like a butt-ugly truck to anyone else?

No, both aren't the best-looking vehicles in their respective lineups.
If I needed to go anywhere (in luxury style), I'd choose the LX b/c if appropriatey equipped, it can go just about anywhere in any type of weather conditions.
I adore the new QX on styling alone --- and I appreciate all of the changes that's been made since the last generation of that model. I would choose the QX also b/c most people in my area wouldn't even know what it is. But it's got a certain panache that can be appreciated from the inside-out. I short test drive only leaves you wanting to own it.

Well if styling was a measure the Lexus would be the winner by a snail's length. The QX just looks like an unhappy whale with gills and all. The Lexus is not much better.

Have driven both and kept LX570 many times. I would choose Lexus mainly because of styling inside and out and it's smoothness on all road conditions. At everything else new Infiniti QX56 is better than Lexus LX especially performance wise. It is the most sporty full size SUV but the design is deal breaker for me. IMO new QX56 is one of the ugliest car on sale today.

Choosing between the two, would have to go with Infiniti.

I would still rather have an Escalade. I am aware that it has less off-road ability and some cheaper interior materials, but to me, the Escalade is still the best looking full-size SUV, by far.
And the experience of driving and living with an Escalade is greater than the sum of it's tarted-up Tahoe parts suggests. From the ride to the sound of it's V8, the Escalade is deeply satisfying and still the most all-around appealing full-size luxury SUV, IMO.

Are you in the NFL or NBA?

Dont know why you were deboosted. Cosmetically speaking, I agree with you 100%. Im the first to admit its nothing but a Tahoe with a suit on but its a damn fine suit.
Engineering/Technology-wise, its a weak fullsize SUV with a big Vortec engine. Whoop de doo. Only model I'd buy of the Escalade (if I could afford it) would be the Platinum model for its MRC suspension. Overall, its still a garbage money maker for Cadillac until they get it together though.

I would like to see a worthy diesel engine option from these two. Is it so hard to outsource Cummins for an engine, like Dodge did? SUVs of this size require a diesel to be truly practical.

Ok I know this website adores hating on the QX, but I have seen a few here in Florida, mostly black, and it is definitely one good looking car. The people I have seen it with agree also. It's rare and doesn't look like its a 2005 like the Lexus does. And of course it looks bad in those pictures, they chose a puke green.

The LX is 30,000 more. The qx is not even in the same class. Infiniti=JUNK

So the LX is more expensive, slower, doesn't handle as well, isn't as roomy and doesn't offer much if anything more, besides being clobbered by the QX in sales. Yeah... the Infiniti is junk alright.

Both are hideously ugly. But if I were forced to choose, I'd go for the Infiniti. It does everything better than the Lexus except perhaps the off-road aspect, but then again I think the QX56 will do "ok" in most off-road situations. It's not like I am being forced to cross the Sahara desert...

I welcome the competition.
I love luxury SUVs. They're big and sumptuous! These guys can do anything, and that's a nice bragging right and a good feeling of security.
I prefer the Lexus, but this new QX seems to be quite the competitor, and I welcome the competition! I hope Lexus adds a lot more leather and wood in the future LX facelift!

I have yet to see anyone off road in their luxury SUV.I have a 2005 Excalade ESV Platinum and the it handles anything I can dish out with no problems.I traded in a LX 470 and boy was that a good move. One of my reguirements was it has to have luggage room for all occupants. Many SUVs including the two mentioned have hardly any trunk space. There are so many options on Denalis and Escalades that are not offered in Tahoes/Surburbans like the 6.0 Vortec. In fact The Escalades,Denalis,Suburbans heck even the Expedition looks better. The heading should be Who is the king of Ugly.
