New Shelby to bow in Monterey?
Rumors are floating on the net that a new Shelby will be introduced at the Concorso Italiano show in Monterey this August.
Will it be the production version of the GR-1 concept?

This is a nice hot car. Probably a rebodied GT40 like fokker said. Probably more expensive too.

Ford should offer the GR-1 to the public ( OK, well-heeled public, anyway ) as soon as possible. The Ford GT was The American Supercar and was more than a match for the Ferrari F430, and at $25,000 less. Unfortunately, Ford decided to end the GT's production.
However, since the GR-1 might be able to equal the performance of the new 599 Fiorano, an entire new Ford vs. Ferrari episode could be in the making. Imagine as well, how fantastic a Spyder version of the GR-1 would look.
In addition, perhaps some of the workers who will lose their positions when the GT's prodction ends, could be put back to work on the ( hopefully upcoming ) GR-1.
