Over The Past 10 Years, Which 10 Cars Flopped The HARDEST?
Alright, ladies and gents, I am going to need some help from you on this one. Think back over the last 10 years. A lot has changed.
We've seen the tech bubble burst, a financial meltdown, wars rage on and the automotive industry see-sawing back and forth from the best and worst of times. It's really been a trip over the past decade but we want to know:
What were the top 10 cars that FLOPPED in the last 10 years?
You know what I am talking about. These are the vehicles that were just outright bad OR did not live up to their hype.
Give it some time and get back to me on this because there are definitely 10 out there somewhere.

the 5-series GT is a niche vehicle that has far outsold BMW's projections. now sure how that's a flop...

lol, the 5 series GT is a sales success for BMW. Not only is it ugly and selling well, but it also has inspired other automakers to make similar vehicles...wouldnt call that a flop ugly yes, but not a flop.

How could you deboost this comment that is the standard from which this topic was chosen. That is a given... Not to mention that thing looks atrocious. I couldn't image what use someone would have for car except to blow money but to be honest their money would better spent on Wendy's because I could image spending any amount of money on that thing.

The E34 5 Series was produced 1988-1995 and the E32 7 Series were built from 1987-1994 and was replaced by the E38 7 Series 1995-2001. Neither of the these two cars are even remotely in the last decade.
VW Phaeton - Nice car.
Toyota Soarer aka "Lexus SC430" - an SL-Class competitor, really?
Cadilliac XLR - see above.
Jaguar X-Type - a Ford Mondeo with delusions of granduer.
Toyota Altezza "Lexus IS" - another Toyota with delusions of granduer. The thing even had an inline 6. FAIL!
Chevy SSR - need anyone say more.

Also inline 6 engines are the most durable. Inline 6 engines have 7 main bearings supporting the crank, a V8 only has 5. so less cylinders and more bearings. you do the math, Why do you think all 18 wheelers here have inline 6 diesels?

I love Infiniti but the Q45 only made it three generations and none did well. In fact they did so bad Infiniti has yet to make another flagship to compete with the Lexus LS.

blazinboy - I agree with your points about the inline and they are well known about BMWs 6-cylinder motors and it's inherent packaging issues. Toyota really doesn't know what to do with the IS. The Altezza (IS) was the same length, width and hp as a 3 Series. Yeah they xeroxed a 3 Series, but then market how they are different when the brand is just a copy of an original, well actually two (BMW & MB). And not a very good one. The IS was a fail.
Forgot about the Q45. It was a good car, and still see them on the road. Nissan didn't know what to with the car either. I think that car was not marketed very well becuase it's performance was good.

My mom use to have a Q45 back in the 90's she had the 1994 and it was a great car but Infiniti never got it right specifically in the 2000's since we're talking about the last 10 years was not only marketing but the looks. The inside was immaculate but most people couldn't get past the exterior and when your spending upward of 60k people were not running to the dealers to hand in the Mercedes and BMW's to the alian looking Infiniti. I have an 02 I35 will have it at least for another year so people please don't deboost just because you like a company because I already know my next car will be another Infiniti but if they make a rubbish car face the fact no company is perfect.

Plymouth Prowler - V6 engine in a car clearly needing at the least a V8.
Saturn ION - The replacement of the great albeit outdated S-series.
Acura RL - Started as a Lexus LS400 competitor in 2003, then drowned.
Honda Crosstour - no further comment needed
Lincoln Zephyr - or MK...whatever I forget their nomenclature.
Mercedes R Class - MB mini-van without sliding doors
VW Routan - If you thought the T&C was expensive, here's the VW version.
Lexus HS - Toyota Corolla Hybrid
Honda Insight - Not quite a Prius
Honda CR-Z - Sporty? No. Efficient? Not Really. Point? None.
Honda Ridgeline - The Un-Truck.
2008 Ford Focus - Here's last generations underbody with boring panels

The plymouth prowler came out at the wrong time, now Chrysler has the engines, and improved interior quality. With a Hemi and a better interior i bet the Prowler would have sold well. used ones are still relatively expensive..
