Audi TT or Alfa Romeo Brera? Which would you choose?

THE grudge match between these two new coupes has been a long time coming, but it promises to be huge.

On the one hand there's the glamorous, breathtakingly beautiful Alfa Brera and on the other, the razor-sharp all-new Audi TT.

They both want to be top of the coupe crop, but which one is best?

When Alfa Romeo first showed us pictures of the Brera, way before it was launched, I immediately looked around for things I could sell in order to own one.

because both of these cars have awesome features in their own respect. I love the front of the Alfa Romeo where I think the TT has the better rear.
If both were for sale here (maybe the Alfa will one day) it would be a hard choice...

Brera's design is arguably the most sexy/sleek design in the world.

I'll choose Brera especially coz of it's style,interior and ride.

TT too is fine,but if u want me to choose than Brera is for me.

I love the looks of the Alfa; I really like the looks of the new TT. But if you're entertaining between the two, there is really only one choice available to the good ole USA -- Audi. In case no one has noticed, Alfa is still not available here. For the last decade I keep reading that they will be coming back to America, and then there's some issues like EPA, DOD, lack of corporate funds, etc, etc.<br><br>
So If you really love that Alfa, time to pack your bags and move across the big pond.

You need to read your spec better before you spout misinformation.

You said the Quattro is the same as the Golf. As far as it is a Haldex unit you are correct, in reality the below is true.

"The Haldex coupling has also been altered so that a greater proportion of the torque is fed to the rear wheels, a feature which some of the Torsen-equipped car like the RS4 already have." Read that as 60/40ish to the REAR wheels.

You also said it is based on the Golf. Sort of true I guess, but over simplified. The Golf pan was used as a basis and extensively modified. The STRETCHED and WIDENED pan is supplemented with a forged engine subassembly that makes up 31% of the underpinnings as aluminum. The Golf is 100% steel and is shorter and narrower. This is something most of the non-Audiphiles can't grasp, they see Golf pan, and ass-u-me, it like a Toylex, where everything underneath is the exact same..

There are numerous differences, you just need to read not glaze over the facts.

The Italians definitely make sexier looking cars than the Germans; however, the Germans have more dealers in North America and the Germans are excellent mechanical engineers. I heard that the Maserati Quatroporte (my favorite car) may source an AWD system from Audi -- I hope that's true and that Alfa Romeo will do likewise.

Reliability?

Has anyone kept pace with the improving Audi reliability rankings? Maybe some people in here should keep up tp date with the LATEST news instead of blurring preconceived notions that Audis still have poor reliability.

Anyone also care to check Alfa's reliability?

... I'll take the Audi TT as it's design is clean and way more modern than the Brera. The Alfa is way over styled IMO.

Like vinegar and water they don't mix

Alfa is third from the bottom in the European ratings in the Constmmer Satifaction Index. Audi is ranked 8th over all.

The Alfa Romeo Brera might be thought of as the third Dino, with the Dino 308 being the second. The 206/246 Dino was a car that looked incredible, performed OK and could not be bought in the US for quite a while. Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear described the Brera as "the best looking car that money can buy". Well stated.

From what I read, the Brera's performance needs to increase to match it's fantastic looks. Hopefully, when this Alfa ( as well as the Spyder version ) finally gets to the USA, it will still look the same, but have better perfomance.

As for the new TT, it is far better looking than the original model, which somewhat resembled the cartoon car from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?"

I'm not sure the basis by which you are comparing the cars. to be subjective, allow me to try to parse it down:

exterior styling: Italians win, as usual.
interior: tie
mechanicals: Audi by far
performance: Audi by far
versatility: tie
economy: Audi
service: Audi by far
depreciation: Audi by far
chick magnet factor/exclusivity: tie

well, there you go. weigh it either way you want. i'll take one of each.
