Is Lexus Next? Scion Announces Own Version Of The FT-86 For New York Auto Show
Toyota has been teasing us with its upcoming compact rear-wheel drive sports car since the original FT-86 concept at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show, which was followed up by the FT-86 G Sports study a year later at the same show, and more recently, by the almost production-ready FT-86 II concept in Geneva.
Now it’s time to get our first glimpse of the North American version of the FT-86 that will be marketed under the Scion brand.

Let me be the first to say the 'ohohwhine' spin on 009 is hilarious. I can't help but chuckle everytime I see that typed.

Well there are Toyota, Subi, and Scion variants. Why not bring in Lexus?
GM did the rebadging thing and Toyota seems to be following that method..

Land Cruser = LX 570
Prado = GX 460
Harrier = RX
Camry = ES
Let the deboosting for facts begin.

That's other than parts sharing.

Well actually sportsbike80, the Lexus ES and Camry share a lot. Park two silver ones next to each other in a grocery store parking lot and send the house wife after her car.

DARN! I really wanted this car to badged as a Toyota not as an uncool scion, Im looking forward to buying this car when I graduate, but I really wanted a toyota badge on it. Oh well...

That seems pretty shallow a point of view. What difference does the badge make when it is the substance of what the car is that makes it good. Your notion that the car would be desirable with a Toyota badge, but not a Scion badge is just vapid.

The car as Toyota is cool. The car as a Subie is even better as they "get it". The goal of the car is to add some "juice" to the Toyota brand as it has none. But the notion that Toyota would badge this thing as a "Lexus" is down right hilarious. But since they already do it,what the hell. And Scion already has a newish tC, so why would Toyota have two coupes other than the difference being FWD & RWD or AWD between two small coupes? They could let the tC die and add this to the lineup, oh wait the tC is already dead. What kind of post is this?

Lexus already rebadged the Matrix recently with the CT-200h. So why not. Doesn't matter to me cause my next car won't be a Toyota, Scion, or Lexus.
