STUD OR DUD? 2013 BMW 3GT Preparing To Do Battle Against Audi's A5 Sportback

This is the new BMW 3-series Gran Turismo. Or for short – and because Porsche probably wouldn’t take too kindly to it being called the GT3 – it’s the 3GT. Think of it as BMW’s rival to the Audi A5 Sportback.

Our spies have photographed the new BMW 3GT on test in Europe. Browse our spy shots in our scoop gallery above right.

Considering there are layers of plastic and foam under Swirly tape to hide its actual shape.

That would lead to the conclusion this is a pointless thread.

Another pointless post. How do you declare a car a stud or dud if it is covered in camo and other disguises?

+1. Let's all speculate on this speculation :-(

Once upon a time, some years ago, there was a web site called Autospies. They always had informative stories, news scoops, and industry info long before it became public. It was good. It was very, very good.

As time went by, Autospies "changes with the times." They started posting stories about celebrity car crashes, and which celebrity endorsed which car. Then they went to reporting exotic car crashes ("womp! womp!"). And then to allegations of extramarital liaisons by car show hosts. Oh my!

But that wasn't enough. The King of Autospies thought it was best to open up the web site to anyone who had an opinion, much like Usenet, and just to make things more exciting, they posted "articles" that invited members to flame each other. Which car is more manly? Are all EV drivers gay? Oh, what fun to flame someone whose opinion differs from yours! But what greater fun is there than to be the first to stir the pot with a "let's bicker" posting?

The once-great auto web site lost its luster. But that didn't matter. Having lots of people to bicker and flame each other online served as "readership" for the purposes of attracting advertising revenue.

And so, the King Autospies live happily, for having conceived the kingdom, and for having his lackeys do his muck-raking and pot-stirring, while the hoards of attendees bickered amongst themselves about which car is most studly.

I'll reserve judgement until it
a) isn't covered by swirly camo, and
b) doesn't have a completely fake rear bumper and decklid hiding the actual shape of the car.

I don't have the money for a new BMW, and it's just as well. They may be selling lots of cars, but they have lost the buyers who put them on the map.

Um, am I the only one that wants to this "sportback" fad to die?? Don't get me wrong, I love hatches, but this in-between business doesn't do it for me...
