First photo EVER of the new Acura MDX interior!

We've all seen the photos of the Acura MDX concept at the New York auto show and now we've seen the spy shots of the production MDX.

But until now, there have been NO photos of the interior of this next generation interior.

The concept's windows were all blacked out in New York and you couldn't see anything inside.

So were pleased to be the first site to show you the first look at the 2007/2008 Acura MDX interior.

As you know we haven't been fans of the Acura RL.

But the one thing we really did like on the RL was the dash layout/qulaity and integration of all the electronics.

That's the one redeeming factor on that car.

Here's what we said about the RL:

Acura RL- Is everyone else driving a different version of the RL than us? Or are they scared to death to jeopardize the huge ad dollars Acura is throwing at them? We drove this thing and couldn’t believe how awful this thing drove. It was heavy feeling and the steering was absolutely numb. It felt like a 1995 E-class gone WAY wrong. The suspension is so brittle and stiff (maybe due to the SHAWD?) that is very uncomfortable over rough pavement. Then there was the space issue. This car is TINY inside the cabin! It feels slightly larger than a 3-series and even the TL feels more roomy. Acura will tell you the specs say there is more space in the RL than the TL but we didn't see it. Go sit in both and you make the call. It’s not even close. Now let’s talk about the exterior design. How can their flagship not be the best looking car in their product line? We think the TL beats it there as well. Now price…$50k for the RL? You have got to be kidding us! Not a chance this things worth over $40 grand. The only redeeming feature? The dash/console design and the best nav system on earth. Keep those, scrap the rest and start over. BMW, MB, Lexus and Infiniti are laughing in their halls!

Looks like the execs have been reading Auto Spies because the new interior on the 2007/2008 MDX looks really handsome, well laid out and very functional.

Great job Acura!

We can't wait to test the new MDX!

Remember that the gear selector is in Park; and when it is in Drive it probably would be out of the way. IMO, it looks too low placed to look at the screen and control it at the same time.

It does seem to be a bit busy inside, however I have to disagree with those of you that say it looks cheap or whatever. I think its just that it looks tailored. No excessively pleated and tufted leather on the doors. The video screen location looks no more of an afterthought than BMWs, that also looks like it was plonked into the center of the dashboard.What is strange is that if it does have some kind of iDrive type feature, why the need for SOO many auxillary buttons?? That has me confused...

It looks okay for the car. Considering this is a 40k at most, it looks about right. Nothing phenomenal, sure it looks busy and the "wood" looks super fake, but overall it is alright for the car. It would make sense if it was on a Honda, that is why Acura is in the lower luxury class.

To me looks excellent,very innovative,new design,unlike todays me-too copy cat designs. It's a great layout and also looks very high quality.Everything is beutifully organised and placed.

From here, we can't say weather low quality or cheap meterials r used.Some of u write so crap,mainly when talking about Japaneese cars,u guys have mind-set,that don't like or praise anything Japaneese. Like Cartrash and others.

Cartrash,go drive your Ford or GMC, if u don't like buttons.In those cars u will know what Cheap really means.

But not in a Japaneese high end Luxury Cars.Or even in any new Japaneese cars.

The layout seems like the old RX300 (except the vents are placed differently), the idrive like knob is placed too low to navigate anything. Should have placed like BMW,AudiorMB's (much more functional and accessible) no need to reach and search.

I hate acuras. They all use cheap materials, they aren't well built and they simply cannot compare to the styling and design of other premium auto makers. (TSX is the only one I consider superior to the brand) This car proves to be no exception. I am willing to bet that the 'swooping' wood dash is not really wood but acura's imitation stuff. Though I know this is not the FINAL production version, there are FAR too many buttons on the dash for this to be a simplified model. The concept car certainly looked like it was aiming for simplicity but clearly acura once again fell behind on this goal. I imagine this car will sell b/c it will most likely be competitively priced and it carries an (unfortunate) premium status. But I really am dissapointed - I hoped that acura could change my opinion on the brand just like the TSX did, but it only solidifies it even further.
