NEW YORK AUTO SHOW: Starting At $15,600 The 2012 Honda Civic Breaks Cover

NEW YORK AUTO SHOW: Starting At $15,600 The 2012 Honda Civic Breaks Cover
The all-new, more refined 2012 Honda Civic went on sale today with manufacturer's suggested retail pricing(1) (MSRP) ranging from $15,605 for the value-oriented Civic DX Coupe to $26,750 for the luxuriously equipped Civic Hybrid with leather-trimmed seating surfaces, the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ and XM Radio®, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today.

Significant advancements to the new Civic compared to prior year models include increased fuel economy ratings, added refinement throughout, new interactive technologies for personalization and convenience, plus enhancements to performance, ride and interior packaging.

"For nearly forty years, Civic has earned its outstanding reputation by consistently delivering high levels of reliability, fuel efficiency, fun driving character and value beyond what's expected in the segment," said John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda. "The all-new 2012 Civic improves in multiple ways with even more models to best meet individual preferences and budgets."

Compared to the outgoing Civic, 2012 Civic pricing reflects a sales-weighted increase of approximately $33 (0.17 percent) across the entire lineup while adding significant improvements in relative value through new standard features, enhanced equipment and improved fuel economy. With the goal of making technology more affordable, navigation-equipped models are priced $400 to $500 less than their 2011 predecessors. At the entry level, the price of the value-oriented Civic DX Coupe remains the same as the outgoing DX trim level.

The 2012 Civic lineup includes a sedan and a coupe with conventional gasoline models, a new "HF" high fuel-economy version with an EPA-estimated 41 mpg(2) on the highway, two sporty "Si" performance versions, along with one hybrid and a natural gas alternative-fuel variant.

The 2012 Civic lineup is on public display for the first time at the 2011 New York International Auto Show.

2012 Civic Highlights:

  • Six completely redesigned models, including the sporty Civic Si (coupe and sedan), well-equipped and technologically advanced Civic Sedan and Civic Coupe, plus the highly fuel-efficient Civic HF, Civic Hybrid and Civic Natural Gas (formerly Civic GX)

Exactly. Honda needs their *ss whooped for this. Totally not acceptable in todays compact car standards (design-wise). What happend?

Yeah Turbo, but it's not "like a two-generations-old Camry on the outside and a two-generations-old Cavalier on the inside". You know what I'm talking about...

Of course you're warming up to the styling of the Jetta...it's your "destiny" and birthright.

What is it with Honda and Toyota designers these days? They couldn't design a car if their life depended on it. Look how cheap the interior looks.

It's easy to have really high reliability when you don't change much. The Civic has utilized the same engine just upping it by .1 liters each generation. 6th = 1.6, 7th was a 1.7, 8th = 1.8. The 9th is still a 1.8 which goes to show that it is not much more than what it was.

Exterior styling is drab and will attract the sheep as always, and the Si will still putter along while being passed by GTI's, GLI's, ST's, MS3, WRX, I can keep going... But boy racers will love revving their cars into the 7k...what no 8k! redline all while the i-Vtec LED on the dash lights up from yellow to red when theire "VTech kicks in yo!"

Pass, I'll be much more comfortable in my ST hatchback with Sync, MyFord Touch, heated seats, and 250hp turbo charged fun.

One of the most subtle revisions between generations I've ever seen, you have to look twice(maybe 3 times) to catch the differences.

It looks like a left over Acura Integra design of the late 90s. Whatsup with dat?

I'm a huge Honda fan, but this is a bunt...the gen nine Civic is dead, long live the gen ten Civic (which will have to be revolutionary to compete with the good but not quite great up-and-coming competitors)

Yeah, I dont know Honda. Somehow the car looks less refined and coherent than its predecessor. Interior appears to be the same and the coupe went from best-in-class to butt-ugly (IMO)

Congratulations Honda...

You have managed to rebadge the 2004 Accord Coupe as a 2012 Civic. Impressive.

I know Ford has been doing the retro thing, but didn't know you were into as well.
