SPYSHOT: The next Audi A4?

Now that car looks pissed! lol Kinda looks like a photochop job and I hate how Audi changes it's models too quickly. Resale gets a pounding. I bought a 2002 Audi S4 and in 3 years the S4 was renewed twice and killed the resale. I would say 5 years is a good span for major face lift, not a year and a half...lol.

BMW's 3 series looks like a dog. That rear end just scream Hyundai... I love the current A4 as far as looks go. Yes I have to agree BMWs handle better in the twisty bits than the Audi, but Audi has the better interior feel and finish. As fo rthis pic, nah too soon to tell what it will really look like, looks like they photoshoped the current car and gave it S6 lower LED lights and made their own style headlights...

The age old question which is better?

BMW: razor sharp reflexes and extremely high levels of performance. A skilled driver can go 10/10th with little sacrifice.

Audi: extreme competence and drivability, More controllable but slightly less limits than the BMW. A good driver can go 9/10th with a modicum of skill.

The problem? As much as we all think we are such skilled drivers we are not even close to it.

After taking a 4-year hiatus from SCCA racing it took me a good 4 months to regain the skills that I had previously achieved. This simple fact is, that in the hands of a skilled race driver these cars are capable of phenomenal performance. The problem is, we are not phenomenal drivers.. Nowhere close actually.

I think a BMW M3 series in a seasoned racer probably can cut a faster lap overall all things given as equal. However since the Audis are easier to drive at its limits, the “Better than Average” driver can put it through the paces better. Fewer mistakes equal faster lap times. Yeah it sounds great to hang the tail out, but in reality you are probably scrubbing off more time than you want to think. If you want an example watch races, how often are the BMW’s hanging the tail out? NEVER.

So in the real world where we are all not racecar drivers, the Audi is the better choice for performance. The BMW might go faster on a track, but it will bite you a lot harder when you make a mistake, so the better than average driver will not push it to the point of no return.

Who finished first in a test is academic; to think the typical driver can replicate it is not realistic. If it were so easy we all would be racecar drivers.

Audis have gotten a softer in design lately, with the A6, and Q7. Anyway, the next A4 should be really awesome.

Have you seen BMWs lately?

That is probably the worst looking and the lamest photochop of the next generation A4 that I have seen, it is just the current S4 with different headlights and LED driving lights from the S6. I think it will look like the three photoshops I posted above.

THe bumper looks like as it's broken,crashed....so very ugly,especiallly the air vents.I know Audi tried to make it more aerodynamic,but if this the real thing then they have ruined the front fascia.They have ruined a beautiful Sporty Sedan.And the line which is flowing through the body looks horrible.
Even wheel arches looking awkward.

I hope this is not the real thing,and Audi really comes out with a beauty and a marvellous engine in the near future.

I like the rear light and back bumper, it look very attractive and sporty. But the front light and bumper, man it UGLY......hopefully when the Real new A-4 come out it look better than that.

Are you guys high on something? The second pictures are CRAZY HOT. I really don't think were looking at the same thing for real.

The low 80 and 90 sales were from the aftermath of the bogus "60 Minutes" expose. "60 Minutes" actaully retracted the whole expose at a later date, but the damage was done. It took almost decade to recover from the bad press. The A4 was Audi's salvation as far as the sales recovery was concerned.

I don't think Audi sales are any problem at this time they are on a positive trend but it will take quite a while in the US to catch up. BMW is becoming more like a German Chevy in the US every day, everybody has one.

Audi global sales are not the issue. The US market sales are increasing and this is where BMW has a sizeable lead. Audi's limited model range hurt them for years here but that is changing.

Audi US Sales are still up 6.31% over last year a bit behind BMW increase of 11% (easy to do after a paltry 2.3% increase in 2005)

Considering Audi has only been in production since the 1968 with one model, it is amazing how much ground they have made.

I can see the CD player issues and the wipers as bonafide issues, but placing blame on a light bulb? Come on that is pretty sad. I hope you have enough mechanical aptitude to fix that one on your own without taking it to the dealer.

About the only looks that VW shares to an Audi is four wheels and tires and doors. So I can't see that argument. I know where the mechanical differences lay, and they are substantial.

You probably will like 3 series, the style is different and unique. I am glad it looks better than that 5 series. It kinda looks like a Maxima that needs go on a Jenny Craig diet. But there is something to be said about fat bottomed girls too.

I do think it is funny, that most do love to talk about how rich they are. If you were that rich, you probably wouldn't be trolling around a site like this. You would be off managing your hedge funds.

I believe in being quiet and carrying a big stick and my Audis allow me to do that.
