Which Lexus LS series did you think was the best so far?
As a big fan of very big and expensive cars... the one that has by far been on the top of my list for the past 25 years would be the Mercedes Benz S-Class....

But I have also been paying attention to Lexus since their 1989 launch to see if they really stood a chance against the might silver star... And I am stoked to say that they did. I remember sitting in the rear seats of the LS 430 when it first launched and I could not tell you how much I liked it.. But with today's LS460.... I actually think that they have went a little bit backwards with not only rear headroom but also reliability and styling.... Though this is just my opinion I just wanted to see what you guys have to say about it....

My favorite from Lexus by far would have to be the LS 430 (UCF30)

humnn.. I would have to say the 1989 LS 400. Being that it was at the time of release the fastest luxury car in the world with a top speed of 160, lower drag coefficient and curb weight, beating the BMW Mercedes.

2nd I would say the current LS 460 model because it has more technological features than any other car in the world. Plus the looks have to be good since BMW bought one and made copies from their copy machine and came with the BMW 7-LS-series.

According to Phil Magney, the president and principal analyst of TRG, claims, “The 2007 Lexus LS-460 includes more technology that any other passenger vehicle offered for sale in the US. Based on our criteria of 30 technology features in the areas of telematics, infotainment, and driver assist technologies, the 2007 Lexus LS-460 scores the highest of all vehicles.”

The original LS400 is the most overrated LS ever. It came unto the market when its rivals were at the end of their product life cycle. This means that these cars were about to be replaced anyway with fresh, new designs and technology.

I second the vote for the 1st generation LS400. Who cares if its rivals were at the end of their product life cycle? OR, did you forget that the S series replacement that went against the LS400 was the worst generation S series ever? In trying to compete with the LS, MB decided to build to budget rather than to standard, which meant cutting corners.

The LS400 arrived when both BMW/MB were complacent and it took them 2 cycles to get it right. Or did you forget that BMW was so desperate it hired Bangle to create the new 7 series big ass look? Audi was irrelevant in the U.S. market in 1989.

The LS400 caught the Germans completely flat footed.

I like the LS 600h before the slight facelift. That was one sick piece of machinery.

Ditto! That exact model would be my first choice. Second choice would go to the one above but with this facelift:

The current LS460/600h. It came with many World firsts and set the standard in it's class for almost everything luxury, quality, smoothness, NVH, economy, emissions, technology...etc. Remember at the time almost all magazines were comparing it to Rolls Royce and Bentleys.
Great car. All new LS should be just little more sporty and it will be close to perfection.

LS600h because of the still unmatched smoothness of the drive train.

I like the facelifted second-generation the best... because I have one x]

The first LS WOW'd everyone. The second-generation was a great car, and the 1998 model-year facelift really made it the pretty face among the competitors. The third-generation was well-engineered with lots of features, but the design wasn't timeless because the current LS really leaped forward in design. However, there was a lot of hype on the internet, especially concerning the self-parking feature that people seemed to have forgotten about the rest of the car as it slowly lost popularity. Ultimately, they're all great vehicles, and if one were to drive each one when each were introduced, I'm pretty sure one will be just as impressive as the other.

My 1998 LS 400 with the particularly modern-looking headlights and GPS really made it a marvel back in the days. Now, I must talk people through everything, and that's just not cool aha

I don't think they were going backward I believe there has really been a logical progression where each newer generation resembles the prior. The current one looks great and is classy and as powerful as ever. To be honest I'm interested to see how the next will look as this gen is near its end.
