In 10 Years Will Cars Resemble A Jet/Missile/Thingymajig?

In 10 Years Will Cars Resemble A Jet/Missile/Thingymajig?
Ah, the future. Can you see it? Can you smell it? Well, I can't.

Michelin recently held its 10th annual design challenge and a Serbian designer, Marko Lukovic, took the crown. His rendering, dubbed "Supersonic," is a representation of what a vehicle will look like in 10 years.

Long story short, the car is set up as a 1+1. Think of it more or less like a fighter jet with a lift-up canopy. In addition, Lukovic believes that Li-Ion batteries will become smaller and allow users to charge inside their home or office, much like a laptop or mobile phone.

Pretty interesting look, no doubt; however, is this how you THINK designs will evolve in 10 years?

I mean, we were suppose to have FLYING cars by now, right?

Definitely not. A car like this needs a road that matches its specifications. Today and 10 years from now we'll still have bad roads that such a vehicle cannot handle.

I give that car two hours on NYC roads until it falls apart.

In ten years cars will still look close to what they are today.

Crossovers will probably take over and conventional body types will fade away.

It looks like ooR is not old enough to remember the "futurama" concept cars from the 50s and 60s. The dawn of the Jet Age inspired all sorts of ideas in designers' minds. Turbine engines, tail fins and other jet-inspired styling. Today, we look back and giggle.

I agree. We should look at the past. Look at what they invisioned for today and see how far off we were. If we can then base the future off of the past learning experiences, we should then gauge a better perspective of the future. I think cars will be pretty much the same in 10 years. maybe more electric cars and we will see better fuel economy. More gadgets too, but not as extreme as what is invisioned today.

I love jets/missiles/rockets/spaceships and I'd love to see cars resemble them, but people have been trying to make cars look like them for 60 years and it still didn't happen. Okay, cars built for landspeed records do not count. But you get my point.

The anti-modern culture is 20 years in and still years from over. Admittedly though we will need to invent that diet pill before we can all wear spandex jumpsuits.
