Agreed. But I don't understand their plan to "separate" the Imprezza from the WRX & STi variants.

What do they mean by "separate"? Will many of the models in the Subaru lineup receive their own WRX or STi variant --- so thinking the high performance Subaru will always be some variation of the Imprezza will be wrong --- there will be WRX or STi versions of maybe the Legacy, Outback, and/or Tribeca?

hmmm... this is good and bad. Good for the wrx/sti models, but bad for the impreza name. And I agree with the Hyundai fan above, the previous gen did look better.

It's about time they separated the two. Hopefully, this means Subaru will wise up and offer a WRX/STI version of the Legacy.

How much more different could a WRX/STi be versus the NA Impreza? All you can do is up the power and add flares like the current gen Impreza just like they're doing now...I'd be very curious.

Thank god! The redesigned Impreza looks far less sporty...

KKO84 there is alot more to it than flares and power. Suspension, drive train, chassis tuning, and the AWD system itself is much different and far more advanced. the technology in this and the Lancer Evo are light years ahead of the standard Imprezza and Lancer

+1. Sad that this even needs to be addressed on a car enthusiast board. Personally, I like the idea of having a WRX/STI version of the entire Subaru line. I'd immediately trade my G8 GT for a true Forester STI if it were to be offered in the states.
