Cadillac still has plans to take on Bmw 7-Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class with new sedan
Cadillac is working on a rear-wheel drive luxury sedan built on a totally new platform named the Omega, according to Car and Driver. The Sixteen concept from Cadillac was presented in 2003 but it had remained a concept. However, Cadillac is reportedly serious about producing a flagship model to directly rival top limousines like

They couldn't even take on the E-CLASS/5-series how in hell are they going to take on the S-Class

I think they can't take on the 5er/E class because they don't have a car that competes with them in the first place.

Soooo....they don't plan on competing with the Audi A8L or the Porsche Panamera, the Jag XJ, or the Lexus LS? I guess they see the other two as bottom dwellers to pick off then.....LOL. (Joke)

They are. As a matter of fact, there are about five Cadillac's being worked on at the moment.

When the Americans beat the Germans and Japanese they complain about interiors. For example a recent Comparo was titled "The Best Handling Cars under 100K" Even though the Corvette Z06 kicked everyones butt it was ranked number 5 out of 7.The reason they said was the Recarro Racing seats did not give enough lateral support. How did they pull 1.02 gs than.Every Car mag is bought out and many writers here are fakes hired by the import companies to spread propaganda.

Actually, the did take on the E-Class and 5-Series and did pretty damn well...have you not heard of the CTS-V, Deutschland? Furthermore, I'm convinced that the American's cannot win because biased perception is the new reality. If you don't know any owners of Bimmers and Mercs, that's too bad because the fact remains that expensive cost of ownership and spotty reliability are alive in well.

"Yes, but unfortunately the new E and 5 series are vastly superior than that CTS"

According to whom?

"How long before we see the next gen CTS? 5 years?"

No, the next CTS is a 2015 model. 2012's are hitting lots soon. Do your math over...

"Will the ATS be better than then next 3? NOTHING EVER IS! they've been making the 3 series for 35 years, theres something to be said about sticking to something and improving on it"

Interesting. I believe a world class vehicle was created in one model year jump to to the next (see first gen. CTS compared to the second generation). I would just sit back and watch if I were you instead of being as ignorant as an individual on another site by the name of Dr. Fill...

If GM's efforts are as good as the planning and development of the CTS I say they have a great chance in competing. Only an idiot would say nay without at the very least looking at the finished product.

Blazinboy, good for you for having 4 Bimmers in your driveway...better you than me. Furthermore, you made not one actual factual statement in your whole hissy fit...just YOUR opinions, which in your own mind are reality. You like BMWs, so you think they are superior. I like Caddys and I think they are great cars.
Since you appear to be so well versed in auto industry goings on, the next CTS is due in 2013 as a 2014 model. I have a 2008 Cadillac Escalade that I bought in 2008 and a 2006 Cad STS Lux Performance and they both have been bulletproof. You don't know about Cadillac history or heritage to validate your claims. You don't know what innovations, which most car companies are still using to this day, that they pioneered. You are just another supposed "car guy" who likes Bimmers. Make comments based on facts, not some biased opinions with no validity.

Am I mistaken? I do believe the ATS is a '14 and the CTS is a '15. Anywho, thank you for calling him out. I would have got REALLY out of line on him. All of his posts are the same. Its not just Cadillac's. Its ALL American cars (if you notice) he doesnt like...

Well, I have a MB also a Cadilac STS, and had a BMW (bad experience but may be I got a lemon). Cadillac is able to create cars at the same level of MB or BMW or Audi or Jaguar..or even better if they want...but now they have to create a set of new cars to compete with the european Brands. At the end everybody will buy what they like, but Honestly Cadillac is able create anything with outstanding quality. Also the BMW is not the German Luxury Benchmark, is MB, BMW is considered as and Sport Car Benchmark...and depending of the countries...here BMW is the car that you buy when there is not enough money for the MB, in the people perception even Audi is better car. I like BMWs even with my bad experince with one only, But to say that they are supeior to Cadillac "by FAR" is so biased concept as to say that MB is better luxury car than BMW "by far" or even BMW is better sport car than any MB (when now they are almost the same cause MB wants to be more sport and BMW more luxury and now they are heavier and MB slightly lighter than before). Cadillac will success, now my main concern is UAW they can destroy Cadillac.

To build a world class car like the 7,S or LS it takes around a billion dollars. That's alot of money to risk. What if it's a flop? Could bring them back to the taxpayers for another bail-out.

Cadillac has a ways to go, but if you consider how far it has come over the last couple of models, I have no doubt that it can make a competitive product. Those Audi add that slam Benz and BMW for being old fashioned are right on target. People could well be looking for something new. BMW's GT series seems positioned as the brand's Grand Marquis.
