Who is fastest around Hockenheim, Porsche, BMW, or Audi?
Recently German magazine SportAuto took a BMW 1 Series M Coupe down to the Hockenheim circuit for a thorough performance test. During this test they revealed some amazing facts.

And the most amazing fact of them all is that the little 1M is actually faster round the track than the V8-powered M3. That’s quite incredible given the fact that the 1M only has a dismal straight-six (alright, dismal compared to the M3's V8), it must be all down to the lighter weight and the agility of the car through the corners. That said, the difference between the two is very very insignificant, as the 1M did a time of 1:14.1, while the M3 did 1:14.2! Still, it’s faster and there’s no argument there.

Porsche Cayman R PDK 1:12.4
BMW E46 M3 CSL 1:13.5
Porsche 987.5 Cayman S PDK 1:13.9
Porsche 987.5 Cayman S MT 1:14.0
BMW 1M Coupe 1:14.1
BMW E92 M3 ZCP DCT 1:14.2
Audi TT-RS Coupe 1:14.3
BMW E92 M3 6MT (Cup+ Tires) 1:14.3
Audi RS5 Coupe 1:15.3
BMW Z4 35iS 1:16.1
BMW 135i Coupe 1:17.4

IMO, I think Audi needs just a little more to compete with those guys, but really, the 1M doesnt really shoot out with the Cayman and TT...

different topic. and definitely two different cars. one comes fully loaded (GTR) and the other is completely stripped (GT2, not an everyday road car).

Yes, Nissan started this battle!!
As a matter of fact, in Germany Nissan was desperately inviting Porsche customers to test drive the GTR and placing merchandising material on every Porsche they saw on the streets.-
Nevertheless one is a stripped car and the other one is fully loaded, meaning they are not and they will never be the same, never.
I'm almost sure is that no Porsche driver will ever think of a Nissan, but probably a lot of Nissan owners will dream with a Porsche.

its not all about speed, there are plenty of evo's and sti's that will give m3's a run for their money...i say this respectfully,id rather have a slower porsche than a GTR.
