I would like to see Jaguar build an INLINE SIX (not a V-Six).

That would remind me of the original six cylinder engines Jaguar used to make.

It would be a nice alternative to BMW six cylinder engines and would fit nicely into the proposed Jaguar lower priced two seat roadster that may eventually be brought to market.

Tata is not going to dump Jaguar. Jaguar has a long history of luxury sporting luxury cars. If Tata build luxury cars it will be limited to 3rd world countries right now. Owning Jaguar gives them instant access to westernised countries.Jaguar would probably help Tata build higher end cars with better build quality or they may build a special car for the Indian market. There is no way Tata would dump Jaguar. Jaguar is a prized marquee to own and develope. It would take years to develop that reputation.

Frankly the DEW90 Ford-derived platform was, I believe developed by Jaguar to be jointly used by the XS and Lincoln LS.I'm not sure it was the other way around. In the XF it has been heavily reworked. Really no need to redesign it at this point.Further Jaguar is developing a new modular platform for the XJ,XF and small 3 series Jag. It will be all new. However more immediate is a V6 to help with fuel economy. An inline 6 would be fine engine and would hark back to the original Jag in line 6. However it is probably more cost effective to develope off their V8.
