Think You Know The WORST Road In The US of A? A Magazine NEEDS Your Help
Oh-kay, so as much as we would like every road to be paved with gold and smooth as a baby's bottom, it's just not possible. Probably because it would cost a fortune, not including the gold.

In addition, our roads would be under constant construction. Take, for example, the autobahn in Germany. Without question it is practically one of the world's eight wonders in the world with it's limitless potential for speeding; however, its extra thickness and smooth pavement comes at the price of constant maintenance.

So a good portion of the time the road is actually under construction.

Anyway, if you want to take a swing at finding the country's WORST road, I suggest you click "Read Article" and explore the Popular Mechanics' competition.

I am bummed! The road I was going to submit JUST got an overhaul this week!

The Popular Mechanics editors are trying to find—and test-drive—the worst road in the USA. So if you know of a truly appalling stretch of shoddy asphalt in your neck of the woods, take a few photos and send them to us at pmwebmaster@hearst.com. If your lousy road makes the final cut, PM will drive it in a test car equipped with sophisticated data-logging equipment to determine which road is really the worst in America...

My guess is that the answer lies somewhere in L.A. I've never been to a city with worse roads than Los Angeles. Maybe a close second would be New Orleans...

I am not too sure about US Roads.

However when it comes to US STREETS; then NY takes Gold, Silver and Bronze in Bad Streets Category.

FlatBush Ave in Brooklyn, Most of Downtown Manhattan.

Current I-95 setup between West Haven and East Haven.
-I-91 connector is one lane N and S
-Rte 34 connector is one lane
-I-95 Q Bridge has 3 merges from 91 South, 34, and an on ramp all merging at once right where the bridge starts. Two lane highway with two merging lanes on each side into 3 lanes on the bridge.
-Long Wharf section has no distinguishable lane lines and has a shoddy tight S-curve that has no drainage and no room for error.

For those who have driven in DC...H Street NE/Benning Road. You need to be a surfer to ride the gigantic waves in the pavement(literally 2 feet at some places) and a spelunker to attempt to reach the bottom of the potholes on the non-wavy parts of the street. Any road that can bottom out an Expedition at 15mph is really a bad road.

And just to add insult to injury...right where the road becomes smooth is where they put a VERY SENSITIVE speed camera.

The big question is why are the roads to crappy?

I'd like to know how giving better tax breaks to rich folks are going to fix the roads?

You want smaller gov't? This is a preview of how it will look.

I've bent a rim and destroyed a tire (had to replace all 4 tires) because of a pot hole infested road. The roads in Mexico and Canada are better. LOL!! America is really going down the toilet. At least the rich will be OK.
