Mercedes SLS Roadster officially revealed

Mercedes SLS Roadster officially revealed
These are the first official photos released by Mercedes-Benz of the upcoming 2012 SLS AMG Roadster.

But the model seen here appears to still be a test-phase prototype with camouflage taped over its head- and taillights and the logos still covered up.

Mercedes says the SLS’s lightweight aluminium spaceframe took into consideration a Roadster version right from the very start of its development. Therefore the side sills were reinforced to improve dynamics and increase rigidity.

Will it be the 6.3-liter naturally aspirated engine currently used in the gullwing coupe or will AMG stuff the new 5.5-liter turbo eight under the hood? Well, a few pages into the release reveals that the roadster is rated at 563 horsepower, the same output as the coupe.

Without the gullwing doors it is an ordinary design.

"Ordinary design"? Are you kidding me? A Lexus ES is an ordinary design. Or even an LS. But this? Hardly.

Without the Gullwing doors what is left is little more than a normal SL63 AMG. And stick to the topic.
