GM will replace the actual Corvette in 2014
General Motors will revamp a Kentucky factory to produce a new version of the iconic Chevrolet Corvette sports car that will look “completely different” from the current version, the automaker said on Wednesday. The automaker will invest $131 million in the Bowling Green, Ky. factory

Without providing specifics, Chevrolet said the plant will continue to build the current-generation model for “at least the next two model years.” This implies the redesigned Corvette won’t be launched until the 2014 model year - at the earliest.

General Motors has remained tight-lipped on details regarding the 7th generation Corvette, but considering how good the current car is, we can’t wait to see what improvements arrive in 2014.

I hope they don't add a foot of height and turn it into a bloatmobile like virtually everything else these days.

No, no, no...

GM will replace the Corvette with an exterior that much like the one today, but with an updated interior and newer trim to reassure us that it's basically evolutionary.

I think GM execs are quaking in their "boots" about redesigning the next Corvette. They can make it little bit smaller and with a radically different powertrain & transmission or just do the same ho-hum update with only a more powerful engine to mark a major change.

I like the Corvette, but I'm unimpressed, bored, and equally uninspired by the global supercar competitor.

Do you even understand how the corvettes suspension works? Or do you just think wagon when you hear leaf spring?

The suspension works pretty well. What I'd like to see is a better interior and a rear bumper that doesn't push in 4 inches when you press on it with your hand like a cheap Rubbermaid knock off waste basket from the dollar store. A plastic trash can from wal mart has more structural integrity and is more solid than the rear piece of the vette. They are going to have to improve the interior and overall fit and finish remarkably just to have a semi acceptable interior. the current is horrifically cheap. Nissan can offer all of the technologhy in the GTR which is far more advanced than the Vette, yet can still include a nicely built interior and body panels that don't flex more than under inflated baloon.
