LA Times review BASHES new Dodge Caliber

IF you do any research on the new Dodge Caliber, you'll run into a curious example of duck speak, a kind of echo-chamber thinking to the effect that the Neon — the Schmoo-styled compact sedan that the Caliber replaces after more than a decade in production — was somehow awful and out of date, a low-functioning relative that Dodge would just as soon cut from the family album with an X-acto knife.

In fact, when Dodge introduced the Caliber at the Detroit auto show in January, it hired Zen sneer-master David Spade to dis the outgoing Neon, which sold more than 2 million units worldwide. Of the Caliber he said, "Dude, anything looks better when you compare it to the Neon."

The interior of this car is complete and utter crap. I was very disappointed since I intitially like the looks and all of the car. However I lifted my hand to exit the car, missed the door handle and my fingernail SCRATCHED the plastic...and I am a guy with short nails! I thought, "what the hell?? I bet that cargo area will look like shit in a few months... not to mention other parts of the dash where you have to touch things...." Man Chrysler, you had a chance and BLEW IT! Please don't start a backwards slide. I would honestly pay a little more for a better interior...

Those cars sell in low amounts, don't make a lot of money. The Solstice (extremely hyped up) only sells under 10,000 units, I don't think that Dodge can spend the money on something like that.

My information sources tell me the same. The average time a Caliber spends in a lot is 8 to 11 days ! This is Mini-level, at half the price... I have seen a lot of 60+ people driving away with this car in Florida, not exactly a hip urban market. A lot of people find it cool, and the price is spot on.

There are people who will buy a certain shape of vehicle, no matter what badge is on it.

There are people who will buy a particular brand of vehicle, no matter what quality/performance/service/price if offers.

...and then there are Caliber and Nitro buyers, who are idiots.

Sorry, but this vehicle is the prime example why fewer and fewer people are buying Ford and Chrysler vehicles. It shouldn't matter the price point of a vehicle, quality should be designed and built in. Luxurious crap most of us can do without, but the garbage design and build quality of some of the latest DCX vehicles is unforgivable.
