Because the industry still classifies them this way in sales.

In reality they sit in the middle, but the industry as a whole still places them in the luxury market.

If that's the case are they the best selling luxury brand in the world? China loves them.

Those numbers can't be correct. Lexus' current line-up is more exciting than BMW or Mercedes Benz. How can it be possible for Lexus to be out-sold in the U.S?

Expect them to get worse. Lexus rode the wave too long and has little to bring it back this year. Then there are the supply shortages to contend with.

I think your definition of exciting is skewed. The Lexus SCis bland and old. BMW's old 6 series is more exciting and the new 650 is even better. Does LExus have a coupe? nope. Does Lexus have an "F" version of more than just the IS? nope
Does Lexus drive like a boring vehicle? yes

Placing Buick in the luxury category with Lexus, Mercedes or BMW is is a little bit misleading. They do not have the model range or pricing category to be with this group.
They should be considered with VW, Toyota.

Totally agree. The Avalon cost the same as a comparable Lacrosse. If you include the Landcruiser and Sequoia Platinum, Toyota has more luxury vehicles at more exclusive price points than Buick. The new Regal, although nice, can't match the Camry XLE in features. Highlander hybrid is more advanced and more exclusive than the Enclave. Buick is not a luxury brand and everybody knows this.

Buick once upon a time was considered a doctor's car.

People are finally coming to terms what many car people have known for years...Lexus is a fraud

Just like how Audi is a rebadge VW? LOL....... The new VW passat look very similar to Audi A4 and A6. And all the Audi line up from the A4 to A8 look similar to each other except in size.

Actually, I know a lot of people who do think Audi is an overpriced VW. A lot of people feel the Tiguan is a better drvie than the Q5. Might as well save $15,000 and get the Tiguan.
The Jetta and the A4 look similair.
Lexus is a fraud. I would rather walk than have a Lexus.

I'm not sure why U.S. is so heavily spoken on Toyota = Lexus.. I mean we all know that Toyota owns them, but they don't share Identical Platforms except for the Lexus LX and Toyota Land Cruiser. I mean I never hear Honda's motor Corp Acura, or Nissan Motor Corp Infiniti, General Motors Corp Cadillac, Ford Motor Lincoln, Mercedes Benz Smart, BMW Mini Cooper. And even here in Houston they have a big huge sign in the Port of Houston call "VW Audi of America" where all the cars are ship from Europe...

Why is it that People always put Lexus and Toyota together even though they run as 2 separate companies meaning not one engineer design both a Toyota and a Lexus.

People who drives a Lexus is not ashamed that they are own by the "World Richest Auto Maker" they are proud that their Lexus is back by Toyota.

I just never see critics talk about Honda Acura, Audi VW, etc. as much as Toyota Lexus.

I never hear no one saying how Range Rover and Jaguar share Ford parts for many years. Brag about that!

the lexus Rx35o is the toyota highlander the Lexus ES350 is toyota camry as well. The only Lexus that has a dedicated "Lexus Chassis" is the Is, Gs, and LS.

I have to give props for Caddy their new lineup keeps getting better...as soon as they kill the STS and DTS and get a modern XTS they will have a much better chance to compete. They are also working on a flagship but that will be a low volume niche halo.
