Lexus preparing four new models to boost its sales
Lexus is embarking on a new-model offensive, including a compact soft-roader, an inexpensive luxury sedan and a seven-seat SUV, as well as a broader range of customization options. Tony Cramb, Lexus’ chief executive, said that to be able to compete with BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz, Lexus will have to drop its one-size-fits-all policy and permit consumers to select trims, colors, finishes, engines and body styles. He also said that the wider range of options will be supplemented by new models that are expected to reverse its declining sales.

To compete better worldwide, Lexus has to offer less expensive models. Its reputation for quality, gleamed from years of domination in the North American market, will be a huge factor in selling these cheaper vehicles.

The reputation is currently under fire. That 2008 RX400h we just picked up...5 recalls.

To me a visit to a dealer is a visit to a dealer whether it is a recall or reliability issue. The car runs great but then again so did the 2006 ML350 which ranks at the opposite end of the spectrum.

In order to better compete with other luxury brands, Lexus does not need to lower the price, but better style their vehicles and increase their performance.

Lexus is the Toyota's Buick!

agent 009, let's be honest these recalls are a bunch of crap. Just about every car has these stupid type of recalls, none more stupid than the recall for my GS about floor mats. That's not a recall. A recall is counted when it's made to prevent a car from bursting into flames or from the brakes from failing, not because of floor mats

Lexus already has far too many models. How is a dealer supposed to stock them all? The company has lost focus.
