Has Lexus Finally Stumbled On To The Winning Combination With The CT 200h?
Take a Toyota Prius gas-electric hybrid, shorten it for a more fetching proportion, but sacrifice rear-seat legroom. Lower the roof for sex appeal, at the expense of spaciousness. Modify the chassis to improve handling. Ta-dah, you wind up with a Lexus CT 200h.

Must be the right mix. The car went on sale in March and immediately became the third-best-selling Lexus, behind the ES 350 entry-level gasoline midsize sedan and the compact IS series.

They have always had good selling vehicles. The CT-200 was designed and priced at a level to get young people interested in the brand. Shortages have really hurt it's potential so far.

wouldn't that make it the 4th best selling Lexus? I'm pretty sure the RX is still #1.

It looks like a fun small car. I like the iphone holder the best. It will appeal to those looking for an upscale small car. Also, it's not trying to be a BMW like the C-class. For me it's just too small and funky, prefer the ES-350.

No one is buying this car in California, so Canada must be in love with this vehicle or, more likely, Toyota only produced a small amount.

I've seen a total of three of these cars on the road and one had dealer plates on it.

No one is buying them because you haven't seen many....that's a very scientific approach. I haven't seen an Ipad at my house....they probably don't sell very well.

I understand that you feel passionate about your Toyotas, even the ugly, bastardized CT200h, the fact that if you don't see a car on the road in Southern California, no one is buying it.

Southern California is the hottest car market in the United States, some would argue the planet. So if no one is buying it here, and financials are not an issue, then it is not selling well. I can say this, because I pass several Lexus Dealerships and I see the car waiting on the lot for attention.

I didn't question that California is a great car market.... (but that would imply you read the post)

Lets try this again: You saying that it doesn't/isn't selling based on your sight makes no sense. The only thing that counts is how many they've sold vs supply.

Is it possible that it sells well because it's among the least expensive?

is that bad?

It was styled in Italy and it has a certain flair...and actually it looks good in person, better than in pictures, but its based on the Corolla...yikes.

No matter how you spin it, still looks like Matrix or Mazda on the street.

So does anything that size with a hatch. Only so much you can do....

Not very appealing at all.

Looks awful. With the exception of the LS, there isn't a good-looking car in the Lexus lineup in my opinion.

Very simple reason for success.

A design with edge and some testosterone.

The Lexus clientele is DYING for something/ANYTHING young and fun.
