SHOWDOWN: German Roadsters Go Head-To-Head, What's It Gonna Be For YOU?

SHOWDOWN: German Roadsters Go Head-To-Head, What's It Gonna Be For YOU?
So, although two-door roadsters use to be a British tradition, it looks like the Germans have invaded their territory. I guess the days of a two-door, British roadster are really over. Either that or Auto Motor Und Sport is tremendously bias.

I can't figure out why ;)

Regardless, the two-door roadster has become a German specialty with cars like the Audi TTS, BMW Z4, Mercedes-Benz SLK-Class and Porsche Boxster S.

With that said, there can only be one winner. So Auto Motor Und Sport decided to figure out it was.

I've never seen the Boxster come in last. Even with Google translate on I couldn't understand much of why the rankings were the way they were. It looks like the Audi won because it had AWD and was the cheapest. The Benz was very comfortable but not very quick and it was expensive. The BMW was very fast but they didn't like the steering. The Porsche was fast and had the best steering and handling but came in last because it was the most expensive.

The TTRS is a brute of a car. For the lucky 500 (ever by the way) in the US that will even get the chance at putting one in his/her garage, be prepared to constantly prove your manhood.

Best driving - Porsche Boxter
Best looking - BMW Z4
Best all weahter - Audi TT
Best convertible - M/B SLK

I have to hand it to Mecedes the all the cool heating element and wind managment tricks, and nifty glass roof, a truly great top down tourer.

Wow if this was Automobile or Car & Drivel then it would be Porsche or BMW winning. Congrats to a German source for going with the Audi.

Personally I like the Mercedes or the BMW. I prefer metal roofs.

. . . But the real story is how incredible it is that Germany can produce so many great small convertibles and so totally dominate this segment.

Boxster is the best sports car. The others all excel at something.

In the past, Audi, MB, and BMW roadsters have been derived from sedan underpinnings, hence, compromise.
