Spy Photos – 2012 Porsche 911 Caught Testing in Los Angeles
There are two things we should note immediately about these spy shots of the Porsche 911 in 2012. The first is that although this car literally fell into my lap (he was testing directly in front of my house), I’m the worst spy photographer in the world. The second thing is that engineers prototype – despite the use of public roads and public parking lot at Burger Kings – NOT like when you try to take pictures of your project. (And no, I do not smear the face = -. Place public has no right to reasonable privacy Plus .– journalist was dark and he was dancing around the camera.)

I like the thicker over all look of the nose and tail, more substance, more muscular stance all around. I like it. I read with great interest that the Insideline reporter taking the picture was certain that it sounded like a small V8 rather than the Flat6, wow, what a HUGE development for Porsche. I know that the next generation of RUF is going to be V8 as well (they are developing their own V8 in house for use on future 911 bodies), so it is not a far stretch to guess that this next car may be a huge evolutionary leap, so much greater than going to water cool engines.

Wow, V8 911, never thought I'd hear that one.

OR, as others posted, it could be the Panamera Coupe, but looks a little small for that.

Ruf already has a v8 in their lineup. i think it's several kilos lighter than the common flat 6, the disadvantage is the higher center of gravity (especially in case of the rear engine layout)

A V8 powered 911 from Zuffenhausen? sounds strange with all that downsizing throughout the entire industry, but you might be right on the other hand, cos Porsche doesn't seem to care that much about trends.

looks the same.

Since they have vastly experience in developing horizontally opposed engines, instead of a V8, why don't they develop a flat 8 which seems more conservative and loyal to the 911 family?

Because it's not necessary for Porsche to put a V8 in the back of the 911 when there are already around 26 variants of the 911 running off of their different flat-6 engines with the same or better performances than a V8.
