New Passat (and Jetta) is boring to look at. Very bland design. To me current Camry which is 6 years old looks better than new Passat.

I think the smaller VW sedan exteriors started to get a bit boring when then extended the length of the cars at the front and back using larger engine compartments & trunk storage spaces.

I saw an older Jetta this morning and realized that I really like the shorter overall dimensions, but it was the shorter front- & back-ends that truly defined the brand character. IDK if this makes sense to anyone else.

It's amazingly weird that the legendary bland US brands (Buick, Chevy, Ford) have infused a bit of style in their designs lately as VW enters this mission to be "boring". If this is a way for them to help highlight the Audi brand (by making the VW lineup more undesirable) --- their plan is working.
