Toyota Tundra Sales Rise While Competition Falls

Toyota Tundra Sales Rise While Competition Falls
About a month ago pickup sales were at their highest point in recent memory even with gas passing four dollars a gallon in some places. As expected the trend did not last long and every brand save Toyota saw sales of their full size pickups fall compared to last month. Spurred by high demand for its V6 engines Ford's F-150 led all with 45,435 sales in April, while this was an improvement over a year ago it could not match the previous month's sales. In second place the Chevy Silverado posted its second worst month of the year and was fractionally worse compared to a year ago. The biggest surprise of the month was certainly the Toyota Tundra that continued to improve its sales for the fourth month this year as it closed its gap to the GMC Sierra. Follow the link to see a chart of pickup sales by brand and month.

What is Toyota doing right to be able to increase Tundra sales with gas rising and competition losing sales?

The Tundra might be down versus a year ago but Toyota sold more Tundras in April than they did in March. Everyone else did worse in April compared to March.

It still isn't near the yearly sales of the top 4 (Ford, Chevy, Ram, and GMC). Plus it will sell when you have lots of incentives! Let's see if it has a better month in May.

If anyone 6 years ago had told you that Toyota would be selling almost as many Tundras as the Sierra in ANY month they'd have told you to lay off the crack.

For me to even look at the Tundra I would have to know without any question what have they done to fix the blend of metal, currently they rust, especially in rust belts, and why not add a 2 speed transfer case for a starting point, I don't even consider it a truck unless it has a locking 2 speed transfer case, how about making it off road capable? It's not ever going to cut it, although I was a fan of the old solid axle trucks, they should bring them back to North America.

Brand fans regardless of what brand it is defend Fecal matter regardless how true the facts may be about the faults of the given auto company, and Toyota fans are up there defending poor quality by de boosting facts like it is all going to go away.
