Why not a good CVT instead?

PS: Now Chrysler is picking up Audi styling cues?

lol it's a fwd transmission, it's not like it's going to have a lot of torque anyway

$843 million to build 9-speed transmission, really? Why not spend half of that and make your cars look and drive better. CVT, not a good idea.

wow, this shows you how the big boys steal our tax money! Instead of spending all that money to improve their garbage, they want to build a 9 speed tranny, which will be nothing but a failure and that way another failed project with a big budget, they made their money and the public is screwed!! End of story.

lol that's what I was thinking, wouldn't it be easier to pair up a cheap light weight 5speed with an even cheaper smaller 2 speed?

I know Chrysler cars are NOT reliable at all because my family own before and known people who have them, it crap. But this new Chrysler look really good. I saw white one on the street it actually look really good.

If Chrysler want more people to buy their cars they need to spend that money on improving the quality and reliability of their cars instead of inventing this nine speed transmission.

Theman440 always remember, If Chrysler goes left, they should have gone right if they go right they should have gone left. Most of them don't even know whats going on.

after having an 8 speed transmission with the IS-F i think 9 is a terrible idea.. the damn thing was always hunting for the right gear.. the one thing that it did help was gas mileage ( 25mpg hiway ) i liked the upshifting but felt down shifting was slow..

to me chrysler needs to focus more on quality than fuel economy. as long as consumption is not bad it will sell but if poor quality continues then they will have the same problem but now they have it with slow boring cars.

The 9 speed actually works quite well. The shifting is very quick [three gears to one on a normal trans] ZF claims is unnoticable to the driver. Because of the amount of gears [speeds] the engine can be tuned within its optimum efficency and will get 10% better fuel econmy.
