Obama Says $7500 Credit For Electric Car Purchase Should Be Instant
U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood told a group of Nissan executives and workers on Tuesday that the Obama administration wants consumers to be able to get a tax rebate at dealerships when they buy electric cars.

The federal government offers a $7,500 tax credit on the purchase of electric vehicles, but that can't be taken until buyers file their income taxes.

Wouldn't it save a lot of paperwork to just give more money to all of the Automakers? lol

"Most of the debt was inherited"

- You're wasting your time by introducing facts here. But rather than offer a valid counter point (they don’t have one) they de-boost. Losers!!!!

Bush spent most of it and gave it away to corporations.

"Bush spent most of it and gave it away to corporations."

- Sure did. Funny how nobody can counter the "Obama inherted most of this" agrument. They blame Obama for Bush's mess. Like he can fix 8 years worth of corporate giveaways and tax breaks to the rich in 2 years.

Saying that Obama is 100% responsible for the mess that we are in, is like a lottery winner saying that he earned the money 2-years after he won it.

LexSucks, Every president inherts from the previous. This is the only president that whines about it. Obama didn't have to create a debt @ 10 times the amount to fix anything. He did it because of his social policies. And because of his policies, ther are over 14 million people out of work that are now dependent on the gov. [taxpayers]. No matter what this president does he will always blame Bush. The worst attack on the US in history, 911 happened because Clinton didn't take care of business and Bush inherted that but never blamed Clinton. Obama needs to grow a pair and take responsibility for his own actions.

- That's my biggest gripe about him (among many) is that he is a soft as butter.

Subsidizing electric cars will just keep the price high in the US market. Why not let the market drive the cost so that there is fair comparison between gas, diesel, CNG, hybrid and plug-ins. We have abundant CNG.

All those credits are being paid for with borrowed money which taxpayers will eventually have to pay for.
Since the $14 trillion national debt will not be paid off fully til the year 2050 (if ever), with debt servicing costs (aka interest), every dollar borrowed now to provide these credits will result in an additional $4 - $6 by 2050.
So the $7500 credit will cost your grandkids approx $25K by 2050 and your great-great grandkids $105,000 (assuming a 3% annual debt servicing cost).
Small wonder America is going down the proverbial crapper.

Yes lets bring Bush back and give the corporations all the money like GE instead of using the money to jump start greener cars and giving big oil some real competition.

I suggest you look at the relationship between the OIL Companies and Republicans, and then come back and discuss. Bush is an oil guy, came from an oil family. Who do you think he looked out for while in office?

LexSucks, Replace him with someone that respects America {USA} Also that has the guts to lead without destroying the Constitution. Someone that has good national defense policies. Someone that won't borrow from the Chinese and then give it to Japanese and Korean car companies. Someone that won't refuse to let us drill for our own oil and won't give millions of US dollars to Brazil so they can drill. Someone that won't force a health care bill that put 2000 student loan lenders out of business among other thing that had nothing to do with healthcare. Someone who is Business friendly [btw thats where jobs are created]. Someone that will inforce emigration laws [I have no problem with emigrants, just follow the law and do it legal]. The alternative should be a good conservative. And BTW there are more Democrat owned businesses involved in big oil than Rebublican.

GE and Bush? The same GE that paid no taxes last year and stands to earn 400 million building jet engines for the Air Force's new tanker? The GE that could rake in billions making wind turbines under President Obama's green energy initives? Is this the same GE that has its President and CEO on the President's Council of Economic Advisors?

Judging by your user name you must be a mechanic working on the GE tf34 turbofan jet engine.
