Chrysler Moves Forward With Ridgeline Competitor

Chrysler Canada will start building a “lifestyle” pickup truck at its giant assembly plant in Windsor, Ont., in the fall of 2013, industry insiders say.

Both AutomotiveCompass, a leading U.S.-based industry research firm, and Chrysler suppliers revealed Tuesday the automaker has decided to proceed with production of a niche vehicle called the “TR Ram Life Style Truck,” in October 2012 to help keep the plant humming on three shifts.

...hang on a sec. Ridgeline competitor? Isn't Honda planning to end production of the Ridgeline? I don't know, but something seems to be wrong with crossover pickup trucks in the US market. I would suggest that Chrysler offer a V8 and see what happens. That was missing from all the recent ones (Subaru Baja, Honda Ridgeline) and would make the TR a true El Camino/Ranchero rebirth.

With compact pickup sales almost nonexistant now this could replace the Dakota.

Doesn't look half bad. It's not the vehicle for me, but hey. This is no worse than the Avalance. I doubt it will be as versatile or dependable as the Subie Baja.

The Ridgeline and any other similar units look like a SUV with the back half of the roof cut off . Awhile back I saw a Ridgeline with a capper top on it . It looke very similar to the Honda Pilot

Just like the ridgeline it will not sale, how about using that money to make the 200 better, since all truck sales have tanked with the high price of gas.

UAW- The current 200 platform is being phased out in 2012. The new platform is Alpha. The reason they stayed with the existing platform was the timeline and budget Chrysler had to deal with. The next 200 should be very pleasing.
