VIDEO: Lexus' Performance Products Side-By-Side At The Track
Lexus continues to forge on with its latest F products. If you haven't noticed, the company has been undergoing a schism that is in some regards a bit of a clash. On one side you have their emerging hybrid products and on the other hand Lexus has been really pushing forward with its F lineup.

This was most clearly seen at the 2011 New York Auto Show where one half of the stand was dedicated to the LF-Gh concept and its hybrid vehicles while the other half had the pre-production, bright yellow LFA and a fleet of Lexus products with F performance accessories.

Further encouraging this has been the LFA, a monumental undertaking that took nearly a decade.

**Check out the video below of the cool, blue LFA with its sibling, the IS-F.

Lexus takes to the track as the UK's first full-production LFA supercar lines up with the high-performance IS F saloon at VMAX200, Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground, May 2011.

Lexus can accomplish anything they set their mind too. It will take some time, but the brand is only 20yrs old. MB and BMW have many more years experience. One day you will be eating your words just like the naysayers who said the brand couldn't compete 20yrs ago. I was one of them selling BMW's at that time.

"It will take some time..."

Dude - they're already there. Just like everyone here on this board, I haven't driven it but to those lucky few who did, they have nothing but glowing words. Some even commented that it's better than Lambo/Porsche/Ferrari.

Stop listening to the above posters who do nothing but put down Toyota. They have never driven the LFA or the IS-F, and thus have zero credibility when making comments about the LFA or IS-F. The only credibility they have is in their obvious hatred towards anything Toyota.

Toyota should really consider these numbnuts' opinions when engineering future vehicles - do the exact opposite of what they say. But then why listen to people who have closed, strongly biased opinions. As they say, you can't teach an OLD dog new tricks.

Lexus was designed for the American market. BMW, Mercedes etc. were not. This explains why Lexus was so successful in twenty years. They're made for the American masses and appeal to them. In fact everything Lexus does in the US is designed to attract customers but the personality or coolness factor of the car is pretty much ignored. BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, Audi etc. are European luxury brands with a European flair or understatement, performance etc. They sell because of various reasons such as brand prestige, style, sport, variety (something Lexus doesn't have) or the fact that they're European and have a relation to the many various classic European luxury cars/brands of the past.

Conquering the American car market is relatively easy. Design a car for Americans and you shall succeed. Volkswagen is even proving this right now with their cheapened Jetta, which is still a very nice car. So, Lexus has designed cars for Americans - that explains their success here and their piss poor sales performance elsewhere.

The European luxury market is far more difficult to conquer. For one, a luxury brands needs status and history and motorsport involvement to be even taken seriously. Lexus lacks all these qualities thus making them unappealing to most Europeans.

These are GLOBAL BRANDS. For a brand to be global it has to first of all be successful in their home market.

Wrong....... The updated 2012 Lexus IS-F is said to be on par or beat the BMW M3. Do a search and find for yourself. And it beat the BMW from 0-60 as well.

BMW is for the old timers such as yourself. You scrape together your hard-earned pennies for a month so you could afford a cheap beat-up 2010 BMW and feel special.

I'm curious, blazinboy. What kind of car do you drive. You always seem to have something negative to say about Lexus. I don't think the IS-F is a direct competitor to the M3, in my opinion, because it doesn't offer a true manual transmission. It's more directed at MBz AMG. But, since you're willing to go that far, BMW doesn't have a car to compete with the LFA, now.

When Toyota created Lexus it main focus was for the United States of America customers. Lexus stand for "Luxury Export United States." Don't worry Lexus only been around for 20 years and if they wanted to compete and beat BMW they can but that is Not their sole objective.

The Lexus IS-F and LF-A is proof that Lexus can build a great sport sedan and exotic car to play with the big boys. And this is their first attempt as well in making a sport cars, can't to see what the next generation Lexus IS-F and LF-A do to the competitors.

By reading your comment I know you haven't drove either the Lexus IS-F or LF-A. From now on I just ignore your post because it full of hatred comment for no apparent reason.

So basically what you're saying is that if a car does not go 1000 mph then it can't be good because hey "everyone in Germany drives 1000 mph". Do you even know what you're talking about?

You're talking about of your a**. "Sales of Lexus in Europe are tepid at best, it is exactly becasue it was engineered for the US market that it sucks and now they are trying to inject some sportiness into their cars because Europe goes faster than 55mph. Its easy to be a sales success in America, the majority here have no taste".

Maybe where you live people drive 55mph or under but, to my understanding people in the States like to drive fast. Don't you think the speedometer with 85MPH max would still be in effect?

You're right, the current M3 is on it's way out......so is the IS-F so, what's your point, really?

You can be a fan of BMW all you want, in the end, no automaker is sitting still doing nothing. As you can see, sitting still and doing nothing requires help from the federal government....*ahem* domestic makers.

Rather than have something objective to say, like where they need to improve or what you think they should do, instead, you bash them for trying or better yet, come out with something competitive.

Maybe you like to drive wrecklessly, since you drive fast for prolong periods of time. Actually, I don't know of any public roads where you can actually do that besides the Autobahn and even that is getting congested from time to time. You sound like the type of person if you get pulled on in a straight away you'd say "mine is still faster than your's on a track"......right, like we drive on the track everyday!!

Say what you want but in the end..some people like it and some don't. Either help in the evolutionary of vehicles, who ever makes them, or try to keep bashing them until one day, and the day will come, because nothing stays on top forever, they actually make an extremely credible and competitive cars.

My 2 cents.

Actually, maybe you should do some more research and see how many fake exhaust tips are out there, even on some exotic 100K cars. I probably traveled the world more than you have. I just don't spend my life looking for roads to drive on....there's far better things to do when I traveled than senseless driving. Speaking of vents....most production car vents are pure aesthetics unless, you're paying 150k+ for an exotic car, when then, it has a function. Even one of the vents on the M3 hood is blocked and one functioning for air. Check it for yourself. What exactly is "an underpowered overprices supra"???? Are you referencing the LF-A?? Because if that is the case. The car itself is a technological master piece. Great performance and handling with all the amenities of a luxury car. The only other car to offer something like that is the upcoming Lamborghini Aventador and roughly the same price. Do the research yourself. I don't know why you would have anything bad to say about the LF-A. Auto magazine editors who have driven it has nothing but good things to say about it, including this video....some even went on to say that it's even more involving than some Ferrari's. If you hate Lexus so much why even bother posting negative comments..why not just go and check other postings??? BTW - did I mention that this is beginning of Lexus starting to build performance vehicles and if the LF-A's technology starts to ripple down the Lexus lineup, then we really have something to look forward to.
