SPIED: Toyota's FT-86 Project Caught On VIDEO, How's It Look/Sound To YOU?
At this point we've seen multiple versions of the Toyota/Subaru joint-project, the FT-86. Sportin' a throwback, Supra-inspired spoiler, it looks like this FT project may have some more gusto than we originally thought.

Maybe it all comes down to branding.

Realistically, if Toyota Motor Sales were to badge this as a Scion product, I can't imagine them making it reach its full potential. If it's a Toyota, there's at least some benchmarks -- thanks to the Supra -- that it has to hit.

Any thoughts, Spies?

By now, you have probably already seen our spy shots of the kitted-out Toyota FT-86 prototype with the Supra-like rear wing, which was snagged during testing in Germany, but one scoopster managed to film the sports car on the road as well.

It remains to be seen if the European market Toyota FT-86 prototype foreshadows the production version of the rear-wheel drive coupe’s North American sibling, the Scion FR-S, as the concept model shown in New York last month featured some distinct styling changes over the Geneva Salon’s FT-86-II study...

Agreed blazinboy, Im not sure why you are getting deboosted but if you look at sales numbers, Scion has been on the decline since its conception. They should scrap the scion brand, and just badge the cars as Toyotas. A brand that was created for the young college grad is not cool, whats cool about something specifically created "to be cool"? Now that part is opinion, but I'm in college and soon to graduate and you can ask any college student if they think scion is a brand they would consider as their first choice and trust me you will NOT be surprised. I stand strong in my opinion that the FT-86 should be badged as a Toyota and that can be the start to the end of Scion.

What is so confuse about? So if a white person cook fry rice does it mean the fry rice is Not Chinese anymore? Or when Asian make a Hamburger or Hotdog that mean it not a Western foods anymore?

And how about Toyota have auto manufactured plant in America and have American people make the car, does it mean Toyota is no longer a Japanese car? no.

Maybe Toyota is just hiring a white or European people to drive the car because he know the road and best areas to test drive the car.

It people like you that make me dislike European car owners. Good Job Toyota for trying to Fun factor back to cars.

The engine sounds promising. Kinda resonating. Quite different from I-4 or I-6.

Benchmarking against Supra isn't bad at all, it is still a 300BHP 6 cylinder sportscar. Toyota should launch the 86 soon.
