Feds Purchase 101 Chevrolet Volts With Charging Stations

The Obama administration will announce today it is buying more than 100 plug-in electric vehicles and will install charging stations in government buildings in five cities, including Detroit.

The General Services Administration — which oversees most of the federal government's 600,000 vehicle fleet — plans to buy 116 plug-in electric vehicles, including 101 extended-range Chevrolet Volts, 10 battery electric Nissan Leaf vehicles and five Think City EV models from Finish EV startup, The Detroit News has learned.

As part of a pilot project, the vehicles are to be placed with 20 government agencies in five cities — Detroit, Washington, D.C., San Diego, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

This is Volts fate anyways. Being a hybrid fleet car.

The worst thing for the Volt is to be associated with anything government. That is going to be a negative image. It makes it seem like a Chrysler K car.

I dont think it will run well with the JAPANESE if their government cars were Chevys. They dont even give American companies a fair chance to sell there. After 40,000 kilometers their cars are taxed way higher so people are forced to sell (most bought by third world countries as re-furbished cars) which keeps their factories going.

well since consumers wont buy them (except for hollywood people to make it seem like they care so they can drive to the airport to their private jet) we the people will purchase them for the feds. Meanwhile 00 who just got the 335d can go 39 mpg and have a real car for 10k more. greatttttt
