Upsetting news. Hopefully they won't pull the plug on the A4 Avant.

It's not the GTs; it's the SUV/SAVs. Americans will almost always buy SUVs over wagons... and then immediately bemoan poor gas mileage as their lumbering behemoths slow down traffic. Pardon my digression, but I just don't believe most of the SUVs (and trucks) on our roads are used to haul any appreciable amount of cargo; for many people, a wagon would probably be fine.

Hey why not it worked for the BMW 5...oh wait. Nevermind. All those people now drive Mercedes E-class wagons.

Old news really. Q3,Q5,Q7 all yes but we just never warmed up to the whole Avant thing. Besides, they are waaaay more expensive when compared to something like a Volvo and those buyers seem to be the only takers on this sort of vehicle. Even with fuel prices on the rise and this car making a lot of sense, Americans just didn't buy them in any real numbers. The A4 Avant is safe for now but even that car will be replaced with the Allroad version of it for more money and it will be the only Audi Avant product offered in the states moving forward.

Hey Audi, How about a marketing campaign touting the virtues of wagons over SUV's?

Wagon - better mpg, better handling, same amount of space to similar SUV's in size.
