VIDEO: A Look Inside The Latest Police Technology With The Chevrolet Caprice PPV
As municipalities across the nation prepare their archaic fleet of Ford Crown Victorias, Chevrolet Impalas and Dodge Chargers for more years of back-breaking work, it seems that they are on an inevitable path towards irrelevancy. How do I know? All you have to do is take a look at the Chevrolet Caprice PPV.

Looking like the all-too-familiar Pontiac G8, the Caprice boasts an officer-centric cabin that emphasizes safety and high technology in one neat package. From the large, centrally-mounted center stack monitor to the seats with the appropriate cut outs for an officer's tool belt, the PPV was well conceived with detail in mind.

Bradley teams up with our friends at the LAPD to check the tech on the all new Chevrolet Caprice PPV (Police Patrol Vehicle). From an infrared night vision camera to an automated license plate scanner, this Caprice cop car puts Robocop's '86 Taurus LX to shame...

They already did... the G8, but since Pontiac is gone now it's possible that they might bring it to Chevy.

I'm not so sure about the automatic license plate reader. It certainly would be great for catching criminals, but the potential for misuse is rather significant as well.
