Acura RL continues on rapid decline

Fueled by a June record for the TSX sports sedan and continued steady sales of the TL performance
luxury sedan, Acura sold 15,107 units during the month, the division announced today. In addition, year-to-date sales reached 96,301 units.

The TSX sports sedan continued its sales momentum in 2006 with record-setting June sales of 3,162 units, breaking the previous record, set
last year, by 2.5 percent. Year-to-date TSX sales reached 19,826 -- up more than 11 percent versus 2005.

Additionally, the TL performance luxury sedan maintained its position as the top-selling Acura, with 5,541 units sold in June, bringing
year-to-date TL sales totals to 36,297.

"Gasoline prices are affecting all but the hottest models," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president, sales. "Given Acura's exciting
offerings for 2007, we are anticipating a record second half of the year."

The MDX luxury performance SUV sold 3,539 units in June, bringing its total sales for the year to 24,280 units.

Otherwise RL is a great car.Especially the interior is just Perfect.

Ever since I settled down, I salvage my pride of being used to own Euro cars, and opting Japanese car instead. I own a TSX and wife drives ‘04 MDX. We both love the cars and satisfied with the brand. However, I remembered when RL came out; I was in a mixed reaction. Love the cockpit/dashboard, love the fit and finish. Love all the technologies they put inside, especially the real-time traffic/navigation unit.
However, when the time comes for you to buy this supposed-to-be Acura’s flagship, I hesitate to reach 50K deep into my pocket.
Why an earth would I buy a 50K Accord looking car, while on the other hand I can get away with a Lex or even opting for certified used S class?
From every angle, the RL is not what it intended to be like –a flagship sedan. The body is not long enough to have a comfy leg room for executives riding on the backseat. The body styling is not elegant enough for decision-makers to come out from the back door. Plus, why in the world did they put low-profile 18“ teenagers’-upgraded-sport-wannabe-cars wheels on the a flagship sedan? They should’ve opted for a higher profile with less diameter, or plus 1 with still maintaining higher tire profile.

Uh, I don't know where you live but here in CA the RL has been on special lease deals for over 6 months. Check Acura's site.

$599 for 36 mo/$2.4k down.

I remember checking one out back in December '05 because of the lease. But no ventilated seats or a powerful V8 (sorry, had to) for $50k is better spent elsewhere. Interior IS nice, tho.

Audi's V6 A6 has been on lease deals just as long.

the RL has been an also ran for about 15 years now. doesnt matter if they try the 'new' styling or copy the benz look, a v6 will not be top shelf until fuel economy matters more than power. by then I suspect even diesel will be more desireable than a v6 in that segment.
