UAW Wants A Board Of Director Seat For Each Of The Detroit Three

The United Auto Workers is preparing to tell General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler Group LLC it wants seats on the boards of directors of all three companies during contract negotiations this summer.

UAW president Bob King said he did not want to negotiate through the press, but he said as a “general principle,” union members should have board representation.

Another outrageous UAW tactic. Shareholders (not union thugs) get to appoint the board of directors.

Actually they are figuring out the real power is on the inside. The German unions learned this years ago.

Why does this have to be a continuous cycle with these goons. Thanks in part to the UAW outrageous demands from past strikes, has the union members not taken some time to learn anything from the past. For once - keep your dang mouth shut, do your job and produce a QUALITY product. So while you pot smoking union members are sitting around the park trying to determine which auto maker you're going to strike against, give an ounce of thought about getting the company your working for back on solid ground before you start making these greedy demands again.

If the UAW has a vote and the members vote to use their fees and dues to buy enough shares to become a legitimate voice, but that will never happen. They want the reward without the risk.

UAW is a dinosaur and struggling for air.

Agent009,

This must be quite annoying to you- I can imagine you screaming " how dare they!.
Believe it or not, all the Big German companies that you drool over do have labour as a member of BOD.I think if we look at the strength of the German economy, I am sure you will appreciate the brilliance of their system but you lack the honesty to be honest with yourself.

The German economy is not very strong. I know people that live there and they complain about it. It used to be one of my dreams to move there, but after finding out about the living conditions and how hard pressed the majority of the public is for money, I am rethinking my dreams.

I am glad you are still thinking because I hate to break it to you that the German economy is in a better shape than the US economy. Lower unemployment, strong manufacturing sector. People will always complain.

To Joe Limon,

Sportsbike80,

I wonder why you hate yourself so much- just thinking out loud.
