Imagine spending 1/2 a million on your car and it gets recalled!

There’s hot news for McLaren Mercedes SLR fans – the half a million dollar supercar is being recalled over fears it could catch fire!

Mercedes has discovered that under extreme conditions, the high temperatures generated by the SLR’s electrics can put undue strain on the alternator, with the risk of an engine bay blaze.

Imagine paying $1/2 mil for a car and then burning to death in a fiery blaze. No company's perfect. At least they recognize a potential problem and are addressing it. I'm pretty sure the owners will receive adequate treatment from their dealers for the inconvenience.

Truth is Mercedes already new of a fire hazrd with the car when they first introduced the car. I work for a Mercedes dealer and went to training for the car. Even to jump start the car you need to partially disassemble it to prevent it from catching fire! Not the way I want to spend a cool half mil!

I would ratter have recalls, than hinding the truth like Nissan did on the G35.

And a lot of company hide the truth just to protect them from a bad image.
