Nissan and Infinti take gas in June

Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) reports sales of 75,154 units in June, which is a decrease of 19.0 percent from the prior year. While NNA’s Nissan Division posted a decrease of 18.9 percent over last year, the Murano had its best ever June and the Frontier posted a strong sales increase versus one year ago. The Infiniti Division posted a sales decline of 20.0 percent versus the prior year.

NISSAN HIGHLIGHTS

June sales for Nissan-brand vehicles of 65,854 units decreased 18.9 percent on a daily sales rate basis when compared to last year with 81,158 units sold.

Murano saw record sales for June, with 6,617 units sold marking a 2.6 percent increase from one year ago.

Frontier pickup enjoyed continued strong sales of 6,411 units in June, a 16.2 percent increase from year-ago.

INFINITI HIGHLIGHTS

Sales for Infiniti were down 20.0 percent with 9,300 units sold as compared with last June’s 11,623 units.

A lack of new models and HEAVY reliance on big SUVs for sales are fueling this tumble.

Nissan worldwide sales are off 27% as well.

Maybe Gohsn needs to get his house in order first before tackling GM's issues.

Seems like when Ghosn took over there was fury to redesign and release new models, they all came out and the sales went through the roof.

Then they stopped and rested on their laurels for too long.

Sales for them were all over the place, up to June:

Nissan on the auto end down only 2.95% but SUV sales barely down at .48% (new models there).

Infiniti auto sales were down 7.1% but SUV sales were down 21.68% overall (OUCH!)

Actually if you look at the car sales only, Audi is on pace to outstrip Infiniti in sales of cars for this year. Of course there is a big lack of SUVs in Audi's case so they won't eclipse them overall any time soon.

I agree the new models will boost sales. But hopefully they will stagger the releases to avoid the same sales dip from happening in 3 more years.
