VIDEO: What Are Two Wrong Things With This Ad?
Man, Nissan doesn't play around when it comes down to advertising. In fact, the claws come out.

Remember when Nissan called out the Audi TT and Porsche Cayman in regards to the 370Z? Well the brand is up to it again; however, this time it is taking on the Chevrolet Volt.

But there are a couple of flaws in their latest marketing piece.

Can you spot them?

Given the hurdles they face in overcoming resistance to new technology, plug-in cars should show some solidarity. But in Nissan's latest ad promoting the Leaf EV, it takes a cheap shot at the Chevy Volt.

The Nissan Leaf ad, titled Gas-powered everything, imagines a world without batteries, where the sound of an alarm clock is eclipsed by the roar of its gas engine. A man talks on a cell phone spewing exhaust, and a jogger starts up an iPod with a pull start...

Dear Agent00R... I must have missed it. Please enlighten us.

@Airliner

1) It seems that anyone producing electric cars simply ignore the fact where electricity is sourced from. Apparently, electricity comes about by magic.

2) pcar4evr got it right with his #2 below...

Agent00R, I promise that I wasn't being a smart-alec nor do I intend to be now... but to your First point, if I were to think of a coal power plant or even nuclear, perhaps then and to your point, these wouldn't prove to be clean sources but what if we talk Solar Power Farms and or Windmill Farms??

I couldn't care less for the Nissan Leaf, Chevy Volt, nor any other electric or future electric vehicle that doesn't address the issues concerning disposal and or refueling of batteries that don't produce harmful waste to the environment.

Its the disposal of these that concern me and should concern us all. Manufacturers certainly couldn't care less about these issues, they are more concerned about the US Government kickback they get for producing these vehilces.

1) This is not the planet Earth - it is in a parallel universe where the beings can breath carbon monoxide.
2) Since it takes hours to power up a Leaf from a 240 V line, the idea of charging stations conveniently located at the side of the road is really misleading, at least in 2011. You better have one at your house and be able to leave the car there overnight for charging.

But what the heck, since the beings can breath CO, maybe there are 440 V charign stations

Pretty cool commercial.

I think the point of having everyone switch over to electric cars is to shift the burden of emissions control over to the mega power plants. It's easier to regulate the smokestack(s) of a power plant than to regulate emissions from millions of individual cars.
I did like the commercial in that it gives one a moment to pause and think about how much we pollute as individuals just doing simple everyday things.

Well 99.1% of Nissans sold in the US last month were 100% gas powered.

oh my god, does it hurt for you to think?

"PETROLEUM IS THE EARTH'S NATURAL LUBRICANT THAT KEEPS US TURNING AND BURNING"

Oil is the earth's lubricant? Do you honestly think that if we got rid of all the oil on earth the world would stop spinning or the core would cool down? You do realize that there are plenty of other planets out there with no oil, and they still have hot cores, and spin?

"PETROLEUM IS THE EARTH'S NATURAL LUBRICANT THAT KEEPS US TURNING AND BURNING"

I guess, you didn't say the core would stop (if you meant burning as in using up oil reserves), but you still said the entire planet would stop spinning! lmao

If you aren't willing to listen to the media, textbooks, or any other public source of knowledge. How do you know that using oil resources is bad? Are you linking all the worlds natural disasters to the use of our oil resources? If so, why? It's not like we are seeing more disasters, if anything withing the past 100 years or so we have seen less (the corporate controlled media has just kept us better informed of these disasters)
