RENDERED SPECULATION: So 009 Told You About The M2 But Did He Show You THIS?

RENDERED SPECULATION: So 009 Told You About The M2 But Did He Show You THIS?
If you didn't see this morning, Agent 009 posted a story discussing a recent trademark filed by BMW for the M2 nameplate. Well, well, well. It seems that all the posturing over the past several years that BMW would renumber coupes to even numbers may be coming true after all.

One piece of the equation was missing though. What will this next-generation 1-Series -- or 2-Series -- look like?

Thanks to Scott26, the BMW insider, we've got a rough idea. Clearly it's a rendering, however, what makes it interesting is that it received Scott's approval.

Granted, it doesn't look very much different than a current generation 1-Series.

With all of this said, do you believe that the "2-Series" will be enough of a stand out from the current product? Or would an evolutionary design be ok?

What say you, Spies?

Looks the same as the M1.

I read the new one is noticably lower and wider than the previous version, giving it a much sportier look.

The 1er should've gotten that as a facelift before it arrived stateside.

Definitely evolutionary, but they cleaned up the headlights, which look better on the car.

A lot better than the present 1-series

Too bad they decided to stick with the clownish look of the car.

if the rendering is accurate they fixed my three least favorite things on the car: the front bumper, the headlights, and the "pot bellied pig" curved rocker line on the doors. The interior is also supposedly going to be a huge step up.

Just like BMW 1er owners not knowing what wheels drive the car, those in the market for this probably wont know its a different car than whats out now...
