Should Lexus Unleash An Even Hotter LF-A?

Should Lexus Unleash An Even Hotter LF-A?
To date, Lexus has been adamant that they would only build 500 copies of the LFA supercar, split 450 of the “regular” version (insofar as you can consider the LFA a regular car) and 50 equipped with the Nürburgring Package. Yet, Japanese rumormonger Best Car magazine begs to differ, and insists that an extra 100 copies of a so-called LFA II will be offered.

You know I have a fantastic video for you of a Smart beating a Ferrari, Now I'm sure that with your youtubing skill you can even find some beat-up 1992 Civic beating a Bugatti !

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5S1NAMnYKM

the beauty of the car business is that literally anything with 4 wheels has the potential to beat any other thing with 4 wheels given time, commitment and money

The LFA for several car reviewers, even OUTDID Ferrari in several aspects

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/comparisons/10q4/2011_ferrari_599_hgte_vs._2012_lexus_lfa-comparison_tests

The bottom line is that you fundamentally misunderstand why Toyota created the LFA.

1 - The trickle down effect it would have on other products
2 - The beauty of owning a reliable exotic ( youtube Ferrari+ on fire, you'll see what I mean )
3 - The innovations on the car from the Fiber weave body shell, ultra light V10 and a slew of other facts would give lexus's F line a flagship model.

Now you keep bringing up the Nissan GT-R, you know the GT-R is relatively cheap for a sports car, it's nice and fast, and you can find a used one for about 3000$ on Craigslist

You know what's unfortunate tho for Nissan, no matter how fast the GT-R goes, no matter how how freakishly performant it gets, it hasn't been able to do in 30 years what the Lexus LFA accomplished with 1 model release.

Innovate

and ....

Be called a real Exotic,

Not an over-powered, over-boosted, over-DONE Altima

Watch that Top Gear LFA review, look at the smile on the guys face when he revs the LFA

Look at it good

Now go drive an Altima

lol, the links I posted were included almost a dozen separate lap times. This isn't an isolated event finding out how mediocre the lexus is.

too funny. i'm sure the 65 year old buyers of the ES would love an 'F' version. they might break 55mph on the freeway.

The LFA failed to perform, they don't need so much expensive car to get performance. I think its time for Lexus engineers to rethink the LFA and think GTR direction.

I guess that doesn't make any sense. Just don't release anything.

I think if they do it that 570 HP is not enough based on the money they are charging for this thing. I would do a turbo or twin turbo to get say 800 HP out of it. Properly engineer the car to accept the additional power and then charge an extra 75 grand for it.Maybe Toyota would perhaps breakeven on the car. But more important Toyota needs to bring the engineering spirit of the LFA to the entire Toyota line. To me it's an absolute disconnect that the same company that makes the LFA also makes the Corolla. There is absolutely no relationship or DNA between the 2 cars. Therefore some engineering for the new Corolla should have DNA in terms of engineering and fun to drive capability from the LFA. The upcoming Scion FRS seems to have a sense of this but in reality that car was engineered by Subaru. Toyota has to step up to the plate and decide to stop making boring bread and butter cars.

Gives me time to make a few more bucks for something a whole lot better than what's already very awesome!
