VW Is On A Roll - Who Should Be Worried That The Sleeping Giant Finally Woke Up?

VW Is On A Roll - Who Should Be Worried That The Sleeping Giant Finally Woke Up?
Volkswagen sales in May blew the doors off the brand’s old minimalist paradigm for the U.S. market, rising 28 percent over May 2010. For the year, they are up 20 percent, just as they grew for all of 2010 over 2009. If the brand can maintain that magnitude of increase for the entire year,

Volkswagen’s U.S. sales easily would top 300,000 units in 2011, against its goal of 800,000 brand sales annually by 2018. And as CEO Jonathan Browning pointed out, Volkswagen of America has been racking up these strong results so far this year even without the new Passat (above) or the new Beetle -- planned as two of VW’s primary vehicles in the United States by this fall. Add in potentially significant volumes of those models by year’s end, and Volkswagen could be brewing a potent new success story.

VW have always been safe and sporty, and they always carry more weight than the competition, Imagine if you are a foot ball player and want to go to lunch in a Civic with a weight capacity of 840lbs, you could carry three people but you may be overweight? In a German car you can carry more weight, Germans are as big as Americans, I like them for that, Back to VW dominating? Sales figures just document buying trends, maybe there advertisement ads were better that the competition and do not reflect the quality at all, There is potential as soon as they become more reliable, I would then look at them.

The upcoming Beetle is neither ugly or bland.

...Or the new Corrado, BlueSport, MicroBus... All intriguing (and potentially exciting) vehicles.

Though the new Jetta needs some more engine choices with higer HP/TQ numbers...where is the GLI?

Look Toyota makes makes a few bland vehicles.Camry-Both bland and ugly,Corolla both Bland and ugly.Avalon-Used to be incredibly ugly but now just bland. All Toyota SUV's just bland. The Minivan is ugly.Scion-Other then the TC-nothing attractive there,Lexus-Bland but inoffensive
styling except of course the LFA.I like the styling of the original IF. Version 2 is a little bland.Volkswagen-Other then the Jetta being a little bland(but at least sharper edge styling the rest of the line up is quite nice.
