You have to remember that a lot of these groundbreaking technological advancements have yet to prove themselves over "x" period of time.

Hell, we don't even know if electric vehicles will hold their value yet!

If the Model S delivers its projected 300 miles, good on them. But until it is proven independently it's all hype.

Top gear are just rev heads, they don't represent main stream needs such as cheap running and maintenance, they have a vested interest in combustion engines. Can't wait to turn my back on dirty smelly cars. The whole concept of combustion fuels is dangerous and just wrong. If someone come out today and said that we have a new fuel that is highly flammable and we are going to use it in cars, cart it all over the country in tankers and store it in residential areas in gas stations, they would say you were crazy. Oh thats right we are doing it now.
