Why Would Ford Look To An Insider For Leadership After An Outsider Saved Them From Disaster?
Ford Motor Co. Chief Executive Officer Alan Mulally, who has said he has no plans to retire, likely will be replaced by an executive inside the company when he does decide to step down, Executive Chairman Bill Ford Jr. said.

"I really like our inside talent," Ford told reporters today at an event on Mackinac Island in Michigan. "It would be very unusual if we didn't pick somebody from the inside."

Because that would be a very pessimistic view to believe that your company has absolutely nobody worth filling that position. Chances are there is someone within Ford who knows the industry and company better than whoever else they would choose.

I think the article is a bit self explanitory. They are apparently doing a lot of executive training forcing all exec to learn about "all" aspects of Ford Motor Company from all it's divisions. My guess is that who ever takes over will have a lot of executive training. I'm sure Mullaly is putting his training stamp on how execs should run Ford.

because they want to drag the company to where it was 2 years ago as the executives will make the money and break the company
