BMW Takes Top Spot Among Automakers and 4th Overall in New Study for the World’s Most Reputable Companies
A recently released study by research-based consulting firm Reputation Institute, found that BMW is considered the world’s most reputable company in the automotive sector and fourth overall behind Google, Apple and the Walt Disney Company. German automakers in general performed well in the study with Daimler, owner of Mercedes-Benz, Maybach and Smart, ranking 7th overall, while Volkswagen finished in 10th place, followed by Honda (29), Toyota (60), Nissan (61) and Suzuki (63).

The institute began the first phase of the study in January 2011 by measuring the reputations of more than 1,000 of the world's largest companies in their home countries.

interesting that profitability correlates very closely with reputation amongst consumers. all of the top rated companies are able to charge major premiums over competitors....apple, bmw, disney, etc.

If you own a BMW you are successful in the publics eye. A lot of it has to do with that image. 90% of BMW owners are not enthusiast and never drive the car hard enough to realize why it is a great machine. In my city,so many kids are driving M3's,7 series and 1/335's that the name BMW is nothing special anymore. Mercedes is a much more respected company here even though theres a few C63's with 18 year olds behind the wheel, banging the car sideways any chance they get.Although I like the way BMW's drive, I have had problems with each and every one. My E46 M3 subframe cracked,my 335 had fuel pump issues that were fixed multiple times to only mess up again. My current E92 M3 grinds 3rd and 4th gear, but thats probably due to the car being heavily modded including supercharged. My E63 never had one problem. I regret selling it for the E92 M.My CLK 430 vert never had an issue. My mom had a 94 e-class with no problems. To each his own.

"My E46 M3 subframe cracked"

- I had the same issue with my E46 330i. Did they make you sign a paper promising that you wont talk about it?
