SPIED: The LATEST Pics Of The 2012 BMW 3-Series Reveal A BIT More
Although I know you guys have probably had enough of the 2012 BMW 3-Series and it being spied, more camo has come off.

When more camo comes off that means there is more to see and more to report. AND these new shots give a more accurate look at the new 3'ers interior, which has been seen before but didn't look like this -- probably because it was still in the mule stage.

**For the FULL set of NEW photographs, click "Read Article"

This FEP (final evaluation phase) test mule shows off the F30's sporty/squat design, with its short overhangs and wheels pushed to the corners. The F30 front fascia adopts BMWs current design language, with a sleeker sloping hood with more upright and widened kidney grilles placed below the hood line. As clearly seen in the photos, the F30 will feature double side character lines, the top one which flows directly into the hood and headlights. The rear lights remain classic L-shapes. The side view mirrors will feature turn signals, like the just revealed F20 1-series hatchback. Also revealed clearly for the first time in these photos are additional hood lines along the edge where the camouflage ends on the hood.

Size-wise, the F30 runs on a longer wheelbase and wider track than the current E90 sedan, but with shorter overhangs. It's been suggested before that the F30 is approximately 2 inches longer than the E90...

From the Camo I think it look really good. I can't wait to see the production model and the 335i/340 spec : )

LOL, I know your jus bashing, but honestly the 5 and 7 look nothing alike.

This will be my next car.

But not until the mid-cylcle refresh, which should occur in 2015. I know BMW--they always make subtle styling and engine improvements half way through a model's life cycle, so I've learned not to jump at a new model when it's first introduced.

They need to stop with the BS numbers and make the numbers the real engine size with the exception of the turbo models because that number should designate the theoretical size of a normally aspirated engine with that same power. I.E, my 85 BMW 745i was called that because the 3.4l inline 6 with 6psi of boost put 252hp, which was the theoretical hp and torque of a naturally aspirated 4.5l inline 6. Now that I am running 16psi and almost 400hp to the rear wheels, I wonder what the number should be now. 773i? 325i needs to be a 2.5, 330 a 3.0, etc. If they keep upping numbers we'll start seeing 360i, 575i and 790li. and why did they switch the IL to LI. The 3XX ic is the convertible, the rest, 2 or 4 door should be 3XXi and 3XXis. the 7 should be 7XXi and 7XXiL. the whole point in the numeric naming was to designate engine size.

boooooo to the pop up style nav screen.

Pop up nav screens make sense. They allow the screen to be placed higher for optimal viewing (think head-up display) without having to raise the whole dashboard. Audi seems to be using that design on all their new cars and now it seems BWW gets it too.

the screen does not pop up, it's fixed like it is in the new 6-Series.

It doesn't have a giant shroud around it that makes up the rest of the dash like the current 3-Series, 5-Series, 7-Series, X3, X5, and X6 (which if you do a search and read previous articles is a common dislike about the interiors of those vehicles). The upper dash is lower and less bulky and the screen is supposed to look like more like a freestanding TV nestled into it.

from what i can see, the rear looks very 5-er-ish

SHH !!!

Don't say that here.

You will get lots of de-boosts for such statements about BMW, Only Audi vehicles look alike.

The proportions look great, very short front overhang, and the nav screen looks like the one in the new 6 series, a fixed flat screen. The new 335 will be my next car.

longer wheelbase, wider track, with shorter overhangs..sounds like the recipe for even better handling!

WOW!!! Looks the same. BMW needs some new designers. Now I know why they reached out the Chris Bangle. The 3-series have become such a boring car. The BMW 3-series is nothing more than a German RWD Camry with decent weight distribution

Can't you guys ever write about other cars? We've seen tons of BMW 3 camo pics. What about all of these new cars? http://www.caranddriver.com/news/spy_photos

I like this more than the e90. If i am looking for a sedan this would be it. Great pictures. You can really see the shape.

Not so bad so far. It does look like a '96 Civic--Honda was copying BMW back then.
If I could describe their direction, I'd say it's headed back toward the e46, which was a pretty car.

Gorgeous looking car! It is easy to see through the camo that the car is going to look mean and sexy, with perfect proportions, even shorter overhangs and beautiful wheels. Can't wait!

I love how the nose resembles that of the vision concept. Looks low and mean.

I am confident that the car will look great. This is an important car for BMW ... Most importantly, it is an improtant car for me. It will help me make my decision on the 3 series and 5 series. (fully loaded 3 vs. moderately stripped 5)
