Today - Chevrolet taking orders for the 2012 Volt
Chevrolet announced Friday that the company has begun taking orders for the 2012 Chevrolet Volt electric car.

The basic Volt will start at $39,995, or $32,496 assuming a full federal tax credit of $7,500, while a loaded Volt, with leather appointments, backup camera, navigation system and premium paint and wheels is priced at $46,265 including delivery ($38,765 net of full tax credit).

Price is ridiculously high for such type of car. Better get Honda Civic or other gasoline car and put the money difference towards gasoline. Gas saving on Volt is not going to be that much for an average daily driver anyway.

I agree with everything but your last sentence. The average daily driver (a few tens of miles a day) will rarely use gasoline at all.

I am not defending the Volt's price, but this fact is pretty impressive: this vehicle will use very little fuel in average applications.
