If You Were In Charge Of The Next Generation Escalade What Would You Change Or Improve?
Love it or hate it, there is no denying that the Cadillac Escalade has made a huge impact in the auto AND entertainment worlds.

It's hard not to see an Escalade pull into a fancy hotel or event and not wonder for a minute if some celebrity or big shot politician has just arrived.

In fact I'll even go as far to say that although we test Rolls, Bentley and the like, the Escalade gets just as many looks when we're out driving.

True dat.

I've always enjoyed my time in the Escalade and in 2007 we chose the Escalade ESV the best luxury full size SUV.

But as in your face as it is and with its emotional aura, gas guzzling SUV's are at a critical point in time.

Everyone WANTS what the Escalade offers as far as bling and utility but ideally wish it was more efficient.

So our question to you tonight is WHAT would YOU change or IMPROVE if you were in charge of designing the NEXT generation Cadillac Escalade.

What's missing that you would add or what things would you dump?

Or should there even BE a totally new Escalade?

Spies, discuss...

Make it look different so the ignorant buyers of this re-badge can at least have some defense since they can't seem to see the fact that it is just a re badged Tahoe, because they are too blind/ignorant. A rapper I was body guarding actually thought a regular mechanic couldn't work on it because it was a Cadillac. It had began to run bad and had lost power off the line and then would kick in once the revs got up past 3,000. I checked it out to see if a coil pack was loose or there was something loose. I told him I was an experienced mechanic and he said, man that's a Cadillac, that ain't no regular car man. I popped the hood and pointed the obvious out and then showed him a pic of a Tahoe under the hood along with other Tahoe pics and compared them to his Escalade before he realized it was just a Tahoe with a different grill and headlights (this was a second Gen Escalade.

different motors different sheet metal different interior different suspension, the Escalade is much further away from the Tahoe then many would want to admit.

UAW what different sheetmetal? Oh you mean the fenders and hood. different interior, aside from the instrument cluster and slightly different vent layout, theres not much difference. Different suspension, not really. The suspension is the same the Escalade is much further away from the Tahoe then many would want to admit, No it is not.

Attach big convex mirrors on both rear C pillars so the rest of us parked next to one of these behemoths can back out into traffic without scaring ourselves, our passengers and oncoming traffic !

Escalade Platinum (to be specific) 'blazinboy'. Do some research on that and compare it to any of the Escalade's platform-mates in top form. I'm the first to admit the Escalade is the same SUV as the Tahoe and Yukon but it really is a bit different in Platinum form. Same sheet metal (I know) but a bit different than most may think. I know its windows and door handles and such can be swapped with ANY of the Tahoe's or Yukon's but dig a bit deeper...

For starters: Full LED (Light Emitting Diode) headlights, Magnetic Ride Control (MRC) suspension (a real-time damping system also found on the CTS-V and Corvette), and full Tehama leather wrapped interior. I was being funny when I stated the door handles are the same (even though they are). Actually, same doors. Actually, same stamped sheetmetal (if you wanna get technical). Like I said, I know they are the same exact trucks but you do get more and something a bit different with the Escalade. No need to argue or go back and forth with me. I'm not sticking up for Cadillac either. I would take an Escalade in heartbeat but if I won the lotto, it wouldnt be on my list of vehicles. Im too smart for that. Thanks! *bows and exits*

The looks are a hit, small clean-up details only. Drive train, Duratec and an independent suspension are my two biggies. This bad boy is the one , just needs to move forward a bit.

*gasps!* 001, a question just for me!?! U shouldnt have! lol j/k

Since Cadillac is working on its DRX (or whatever the Lambda based three row crossover is going to be called), I would line up the next generation Escalade DIRECTLY with the Range Rover and Cayenne. They should benchmark these two utility vehicles for the regular Escalade in size and content. This means only two rows and the same (or greater) luxury, off/on road capability, and technology. As far as the Escalade ESV, it should be bigger than the standard Escalade and aimed at taking on the G Class, LX570, and QX56 (but a bit longer than those as some are use to the cargo capabilities of the ESV after the 3rd row). I dont believe they should discontinue the EXT (as they have) because although it doesnt see as many sales as the other two Escalades, its still NOT a sales flop. As far as being efficient, someone else work that part of the equation out. I think in this category of vehicles, efficiency should be a concern but not a priority. If you can afford one, you can afford the fuel to power it as well.

Just my 2cents

I own a black/black 03 Lincoln Navigator. Love it. But it is getting old. Need room for family, but prefer the executive look compared to Expedition/Tahoe/Yukon. The Lexus is good, but need more room in third row. I just hate the 06 - 11 Navigators. Cadillac needs to match interior fit and finish with Lexus/Range and it will be perfect. Seats, Dash, and Details..all need replacement. Exterior is fine, just need some minor refresh.

GM is certainly moving in the right direction with some Cadillac models to compete with global premium brands. To be true to the Cadillac brand, it simply cannot continue to rely on the platform and major components of the Chevy Suburban, a predominately NA market product. Make it great!

I say subtle styling tweaks only and yes independent suspension would be a good idea. Hate it or love it, the Escalade is a winning formula. I'm thinking seriously about replacing my 06 Armada with an Escalade.

And once again for the ignorant posters who ALWAYS show up anytime autospies talks about a car with urban appeal: I've seen Escalades driven by nfl head coaches, actors, politicians, doctors and yes rappers and drug dealers. A pretty varied crowd for any make. Just face it, you can't afford it and you're bitter, oh and those of us who can on this board are laughing.....

I'd go with the new Infinity QX, much nicer than the Escalade and its not based on the Armada. It is different and looks great in my opinion, though I will not ever need anything that big.

too bad everyone that owns a Ferrari, Maserati or Porsche, drives an Escalade on the side, why is that?

How would I change the Mistake-alade? I would kill the program, America has too many unnecessarily over sized vehicles and this one is another one in the list of vehicles driven by ignorant people. I think the owners that drive these vehicles should pay an excise tax for causing major damage when they hit another car and using too much gas. Most of these ginormous vehicles are usually just driven by one person anyway, I see them everyday on the way to work. These vehicles are one of the things wrong with this country and by the way - what is up with the chrome wheels, we gave those up like in the 1970's, hello!

Just make it to where it doesn't look exactly like a suburban or tahoe. Change some of the body work besides adding a vent to the side and putting a different grill and headlights on the from. Buick did a great job separating the enclave from the rest of the Lambda based crossovers.
